Hi, I'm themegamankingdom, or TMK for short! I'm currently working on a ROM hack for a game called "Pokémon Fail Moon" with two friends. I'll post a thread about it soon on the forums when we finish scripting the first chapter.
I'm currently learning Japanese, so if you want me to try to translate something simple, I might be able to get a bit out of it and tell you the general gist of what's happening. For people that know Japanese, I know hiragana, katakana, and some basic kanji.
I'm also learning how to program in Java.
My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team, and I got Diamond release date and played Emerald later.

It's nice to meet you all!

Hi there, nice to meet you too! And cool avatar~! Mmm, welcome to the forums today; and yeah, I wish you luck on your ROM Hack game! We have our ROM hacking section, always popular, so you'll be able to go to that, as well as the Hacking Studio for ROM hacking related stuff! <33

Ah, so your first game was a mystery dungeon spinoff? That's cool; my first pokemon game was Pokemon Yellow in the early 90s. But I love the PMD series too, and I really love the latest PMD game! There's so much to do and so much to explore! But yeah, anytime you have any questions, feel free to contact me, and I'd love for us to meet again soon. Have a pleasant night!~

Yeah, I remembered the anime at the time when I got it, and saw the word Pokémon, so I got it and loved it. It was later when I found out that the PMD games were spin-offs. I didn't really enjoy Gates to Infinity as much as the first two games, so I hope that the new one is much better! I see that you're starting to like it, so do you think it's worth it to get for Christmas? I've been eyeing that game for a while, but after being dissapointed by Gates to Infinity, I don't know if the new one will be better or not.
Also, the drawing in my avatar was made by MasterMRU on deviantart a while back, but I still like it and it makes for a great avatar everywhere I go.

Can I ask what's the basic storyline in your Hack ROM?
For right now, I'll say that it's not going to be anything like a standard Pokémon game, so you won't be going to gyms or anything. We made the game to be a comedy hack, and the plot revolves around defeating the evil Team Majora before they crash the moon into the earth. Seems familiar, right?

Also, I'm right now in AP Computer Science in high school, but I already know a bunch of Java, so I'm right now working on using LWJGL (What MineCraft uses) to make a platformer game.

I agree with you that Diamond had some flaws (battles and surfing was way too slow), but I feel that the region made up for it by making it feel more like an interconnected world. I liked how you had to go to old places to reach new areas, and it helped a lot that you got Fly early in the game, so backtracking was much easier. Although Black/White had the best plot in a Pokémon game for me, Diamond and Pearl had a great region that had a lot of variety.

Thanks for responding!

I'm thinking of signing up for Japanese courses but time and money are both an issue. ; ; Since I'm working full-time right now and have other responsibilities, plus I'd rather save for an apartment. Bleh, choices choices. ;( Welcome to the community, TMK!

And I've been hearing many amazing things about SMD. It's apparently more difficult and with a better story among other things so you should definitely pick it up! Will be waiting for Christmas to get my copy too so I'm fairly excited about that aha.

Good luck working on your hack and see you around!

I haven't paid a single penny so far to learn Japanese, (unless you have to pay for your internet). There are a few sites online that go through grammar, such as "Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese" and "IMABI". Both have helped me a bunch with grammar, so when I watch an anime or play Japanese Pokemon Emerald, I can pick out words and figure out what they mean, thus increasing my vocabulary. Also, I've been trying to use Anki to learn kanji, since there are a bunch of characters to memorize. If you spend fifteen minutes a day learning the writing systems, then kanji, and a bit more time reading up on grammar, it should be possible to learn Japanese in two years or so if you are really dedicated to it. Good luck with learning if you want to get started!

Thanks for telling about SMD, I'll probably get it for Christmas, or with whatever gift cards I get!
