Hello there actually something that I concern lately is the processor temperature. The stock cooler does not seem work well because the temperature hits very high. I cleaned it but the problem goes on. The temperature of the fan is 60 at idle and 99 at full load. It hits Tjmax frequently and affect the frequency of the processor. My gaming performance becomes slower and sometimes bluescreen.

So is the stock cooler cannot cool it down?

How do you check the temp? Nvm, I'm too afraid too, haha.

I finally got my laptop back, sadly everything except my docs/pics/videos folders seem to be wipped. All my bookmarks, ygodecks, my erm programs, other files. Great.

How long have you had the computer? Even for a stock cooler, one does not expect a 60C idle temperature.

Also, since you mentioned cleaning the cooler, I was wondering if you removed the cooler from the CPU socket. If you did, you need to repaste it. Otherwise, the cooler won't be effective at transferring heat.

Nothing to be afraid of. Use HWMonitor. Should work with almost everything - and also lets you check a lot of other things, too, such as fan speeds.

Guys, please remember to post a thread for help topics and not in the DCC, thanks! :)

Sorry, I just put a simple question so I do not make a new thread. :P

Anyways my computer is 6 years old. Well I do not remove the cooler since I do not have the paste yet. But the airflow in the case is not that much. Talking about the paste any idea to find it?

Well, I think we should get started with this.

What CPU are you using? Is it overclocked or overvolted? What motherboard are you using?

Do you know exactly what case you're using?

If yes, what is it? If not, can you tell me where the fans are located on the case, if any? Where is the power supply mounted, on the top, or at the bottom?

Do you use a separate video card? If yes, what exact model?

This can be found in the bios, before you get to the windows welcome screen where you press F12/Dlt/F2 or any other key.

Ways to improve idle temps are to improve airflow by adding more fans that synergise with the other fans in your case, and buying a better cooler for your cpu. My old cpu was sitting on 91 on max load and 45 on idle. I bought a new cooler which reduced this down to around 40/50 on max load. Of course with new thermal paste too,

It's not a simple question because it could have any number of causes, from the country you're in (people in tropical countries tend to have hotter running PCs than most PC sites say is a good baseline because the room temperature is typically higher) to a broken fan to a terrible job of applying the thermal paste to a bad CPU fan power cable to a card in the system blocking airflow, etc.

Have you cleaned the case fans and the case itself? Those can get quite dirty, especially if you've never cleaned them in 5 years.

It is not overclocked 2.67 Ghz for core i5 750. No Overvlots. Motherboard Asus P7P55 LX. Bought in 2009.

The case is aluminium case from Taiwan 'Lancool' brand.

There are 2 fans. one at top and one at rear.

The power supply is at bottom.Using Cooler Master brand but i could not figure out the model yet cuz locker blocks it.

The video card is separated AMD Radeon 6670 HD (Overclocked to 895 MHz and Memory Overclocked 1040 MHz)

I cleaned it twice and yes there are dirty and I use cotton bud to clean it carefully. Not a professional way to clean it but it just gets the dust away.

But I guess the paste just worn out for years suppose....... since I do not take out the cooler for 6 years.

My money's on the paste going out at this point.

A tube of Arctic Silver costs around $5 and one tube should be good for quite a lot of applications, if you apply a pea-sized drop on top of the CPU integrated heat spreader/IHS (the thing covering the CPU - if it's not the side with pins or contacts, that's the IHS)

Just remember. A small pea, no more. You can find tutorials on how to apply thermal compound. Just make sure it's a small pea (but not too small), and you should be good to go. Remember to clean off the gunk on the cooler's base and on top of the CPU before reapplying, though. Don't have isopropyl alcohol? Coffee filter or dry tissue paper works, too.

heres the thing after i apply it the computer seems cannot boot up any reason.???? I cleaned it with alcohol and i apply paste on the cooler base and stick on it. When i try to boot it the computer shut down.

The processor shows 99 above ..... What mistake have i done..

EDIT : BUT I found out that the paste isnt sticking the processor

SO I PUT MORE! ( MORE THAN THE PEA LOL)

and finally the temp is 55 idel 70 highest yet but i have to strees it up with avg clock

Looks like the first time around you didn't really do a good job seating the CPU cooler. Under most circumstances, the pea-sized blob should spread.

Glad to hear that it's working out for you. 70C is a significant improvement - and normal for stock - compared to 99C and throttling.
