If I hear one more of my male friends refer to their junk as "pork and beans", I will ****ing cut someone. Also, "be that as it may".
so what is the appropriate way to refer to your own junk? I ask for a friend of mine

It isn't really a speech cliche, but I hate in movies how whenever there's a male and a female character, no matter what genre it is, there's probably going to be some form of romance involved. Oh your slasher killed everyone but the Survivor Girl and the sensitive dude she had issues with earlier in the movie? They kiss and walk off into the sunset. It's not that I have a problem with romances or love interests, but it's so common in movies that I am often in awe when a movie has a simple friend relationship in it.

"That's retarded"

I don't care how many times people say they don't mean it that way. If you really don't mean it in that way... STOP SAYING IT. The word retard or retarded is often used as a negative label for people with disabilities. It drives me up the wall when people say this. I haven't really heard it much lately though, thank gawd for that.

"Roses are red"

'Nuff said

However elusive it may be, a silver lining can always be found-
In the holes in the fabric of the sky,
The rippling sliver of moon in water,
The distant glint of city lights-
And in the twinkle in your eyes.

I could care less.
This is like the only thing ever that incites boundless rage in me (I mean, I imagine most people have more than five such things, but I dunno). Rather ironic since I'm a linguistic pragmatist (ie. "if it's technically wrong but makes sense, language is doing its job fine"), however when your expression is literally the opposite of what you're attempting to communicate... well, such sheer carelessness is genuinely upsetting to find in anyone regarding any matter.

Oh yes I completely agree. I always thought it was a strange saying for this reason, but the phrase is only common because people copy what they hear without thinking about what they're saying.

The same can be applied to written grammar which is why people write "alot" and other words incorrectly (and they tend to ignore spell checker completely because they don't notice it >_>) I don't think I'm an incredibly intelligent person but the fact that even reasonably intelligent people make these mistakes really confuses me. Like.. why.

I think "That's retarded" has been replaced with "That's gay."

I dislike it when people say: "its [insert current year], ..." to justify a point. I understand why its used, but for some reason it gets on my nerves. I honestly dont know why and I know it does not make sense that i do not like it lol. No offense to people that do use the saying.

You normally say that when somebody is using something awfully outdated, at least that's when I use it. It doesn't make sense to use it for other things, haha.
I understand why lol, and there is nothing wrong with it. I just gets on my nerves for some reason.

All phrases and idioms become annoying to me.
Too much repetition.
