Nakuzami, and nothing else

What formats besides OU do you play?

I'd gladly play any tier, though the only one I have a team already made for besides OU is UU

hey guys! There is a new PCL event up: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?p=9124750

The first order of business is to decide on which Pokemon we'd like to build a team around. I'd like everyone to suggest a Pokemon, preferably a Mega evolution, and we will go from there. I am looking forward to this!

I will offer up Mega Venusaur as a Pokemon to use :)

also sorry for all the notification edits aaa
Ok guys! Since Mega Venusaur has the majority we will be using it and building a team around it. First off we need to look at and identify some of the biggest threats for Mega Venusaur. Off the top of my head the following Pokemon will need to have some kind of answer to: The Zards, Heatran, Victini, Kyurem Black(Teravolt nullifies Thick Fat), strong Flying types(Tornadus-T, Togekiss, Talon, Mega Pinsir), Psychic types(Mega Gard, Zam, the Latis, Medicham, Megagross, etc.), and Chansey.

Mega Venusaur has a really good matchup vs a lot of common threats though such as Manaphy, Azu, Keldeo, Mega Diancie, Landorus-T, Mega Alt, Clefable, Breloom, etc.

If anyone has any teammate suggestions drop them here!

Well for me the first partner that comes to my mind for mega venu is garchomp.
It can singlehandedly deal with all the threats mentioned above minus latias and ice punch megagross.
We could run maxspeed so as to outrun max spd kyub.

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance
Well this set can be tinkered with but well lets see
Maybe Heatran or Jirachi? They'd both do well against a number of threats you mentioned above

I feel like any of those suggestions are good partners. Heatran helps take out bulky steels such as Mega Scizor and Jirachi could run a SR set or a scarf Healing Wish. Garchomp is good because it can take on threats like Heatran, Talonflame, etc.

Another good partner imo is Tyranitar. Tyranitar threatens nearly all of the Psychic mons that cause an issue for Venu, is an excellent answer for Talon, Togekiss, the Zards, Victini, etc. It can run Band, Scarf, or Lefties depending on the set too. Because Venu is prone to entry hazard damage partners like Latias, Starmie, or Exca(who can work well with Ttar) might be worth considering too.

Well yeah ttar looks great. But then theres a slight problem in venu's healing getting cut down due to sand.
Anyways if we use ttar I think choice scarf would be great on it.As it would enable it to hit back without getting hit himself.
We could then use excadrill for sr support (and rapid spin?).Else we could also use tank chomp.

That's true @healing. Bisharp might be worth considering over TTar.

Well heres my thoughts for the first 3 mons of the team.

Garchomp @ Leftovers
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
Decided to use garchomp as the rocker and the primary answer to a buck load of mega venus threats.max speed is needed to outspeed max speed kyub which is a big threat to venu and chomp himself.Kind of confused between fire blast and stone edge. Also went for dragon claw as getting locked on outrage in front of a fairy is a sure death and chomp needs to stay alive till venu can live comfortably.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis
Well these evs are just copied from smogons strategy pokedex.Standard offensive venu-m set

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
Bisharps sole purpose on this team is to eliminate all psychics. So used this set keeping that in mind.Used black glasses instead of lefties as dont have swords dance on bish. Also knock off will help alot removing items.

Well this is it for the first 3 mons.Any suggestions?

Also I think status will be a big problem for this team.So need a heal bell user.
Clefable looks best here as it also completes the dragon-fairy-steel combo.Theres celebi too but well as we already have venu i dont think theres any need.

Seems like a solid team, but one thing worth mentioning is that Psychic types in general aren't all too common in OU, so I think we should look at the Psychic-types we're most likely to run into individually. Namely, almost all of them have additional types, stats, and non-psychic moves that could still do good damage to Bisharp--Hyper Voice from Mega Gardevoir would OHKO, for example. A Focus Blast from Zam or a Hammer Arm from Metagross would do the same. Maybe that's not a problem, since we do have them pursuit-trapped in case they switch out, but just something I wanted to touch on that we might run into problems with :)

As far as another Pokémon goes...since we have most of our bases covered, how about something that's capable of being a reliable source of damage, such as Azu or Hoopa-U or something? Or perhaps we'll want something that can set up Sunlight to support Venu's Synthesis or Garchomp's Fire Blast? Klefki seems the best choice for the latter.

But in klefki there are 3 mons (too much)weak to fire.So a fire type could just use his fire moves each time and can even come to a point of killing its check.
Also bisharp is good cause we also have sucker punch. So it is a sure way to kill a somewhat weakened psychic without worrying about the secondary typing.
