What are some of the saddest moments you've experienced in any game? Are there moments in games that made you mad. I know in Assassin's Creed 2 I got mad after Ezio's father and brother are killed in Assassin;s Creed 2. Also, the ending of Okamiden made me cry, such a great game!

I believe that if a game has a plot which has a great impact on the player, then the writers and the entire team has done a great job with the story. We often see amazing plots in games like The Last of Us, Uncharted, Kingdom Hearts while other games lack them but make up with other factors.

There were maybe 15-20 moments in Life is Strange where I cried, and a few those where I didn't just cry, I bawled. I also cry whenever I listen to the soundtrack or think about the game at all. That game really gutted me.

I also cried at
Spoiler:
Joel's daughters death
in The Last of Us, and
Spoiler:
Agro's death
in Shadow of the Colossus.

Honestly, you gotta have a good cry every now and then.

This is an Undertale spoiler regarding Undyne, so beware!
Spoiler:
I just defeated Undyne, and it was THE LEAST SATISFYING WIN I HAVE EVER HAD IN A VIDEO GAME! I was so excited when I finally dropped her to 0 because I had to retry the fight several times. So my initial rush of adrenaline was instantly shattered by Undyne's determination, a trait my character has been shown to have several times, her absolute refusal to die turned my victory bitter. Not even bitter-sweet, literally bitter. I was so sad for my own victory. This may be the greatest game ever created from an artistic standpoint.

the bad ending of Phoenix Wright: Justice for All Case 4 was downright depressing. If you don't care for spoilers, see below

Spoiler:
At the end of the game, a choice comes up in which you have to present the correct evidence and the correct person in order to convict your (guilty) client Matt Engarde. Maya's life is on the line, and if you choose wrong, Engarde will be declared not guilty. Phoenix is so distraught at the notion of letting a guilty party off free, that he flees the courtroom, never to return. He reads of the conviction and implied execution of Adrian Andrews, a witness that was framed for the crime. Phoenx never sees Maya again, but trusts that she was let go. The last shot of Phoenix is him wandering the streets in despair never to appear in a courtroom again
The entirety of NieR. But especially the second ending. I don't think a game had actually moved me to tears before that piece of heartbreak. It wasn't enough for the game to kick me at the start of my second playthrough, it then made me sit through that when I finished it. I thought I'd seen the worst of it after I'd played through the game once...not even close.

Rin's story in Katawa Shoujo would win the runner-up prize. Unlike the other routes, that one was actually well-written.

Meeting Quelaag's sister in Dark Souls.
Spoiler:
On top of the pitiability of her circumstances, it makes for a bit of a "what have I done" moment since one can only find her after killing Quelaag. A further stab in the heart comes after successfully conversing with her, upon the realisation that since she is blind she can only assume that the player character is Quelaag. I didn't feel bad for killing Quelaag since she attacked me during my simple passage to the Bell of Awakening, but this does make one feel obliged to share quite a lot of their humanity with her sister as recompense, if not go on to serve her outright by nursing her to health.

Quelaag actually has unusued dialogue where she warns the player to leave her domain (and making a covenant with her may have made her non-hostile to the player's passage)... but I think the game's emotional impact is better off with the minimal interactions it was left with.

One of the moments that I was in tears was... when in the end of Igglybuff's quest in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, and at the end of Gates To Infinity, so far. That's to be expected for games like this with many heavy plots and storyline :)

Shadow of the Colossus itself was pretty much a tear jerker.

And then there's Roman or Kate in GTA IV.

Unexpectedly, i felt really sad watching Soap die in COD MW3. For some reason, i grew liking Soap as a character, especially since he was one of the playable characters in COD4's Single Player, and COD4 being one of my personal favorites as well, so it felt heart crushing seeing him die in MW3.

The first endings in both Pokemon Mystery Dungeons Red and Explorers of Sky. I remember the depression I went after playing those, took couple of days to put myself together. Then years later, Undertale happened, enough said.

When it comes to sad moments in video games, one of the saddest moments is the death of Sargeant Johnson in Halo 3. Why is it sad, well Sargeant Johnson is one of the fan favorite characters in the Halo series. Plus when you add in the books, he was the only human to witness both the start and end of the Human-Covenant War.
Spoiler:
Plus he is also a SPARTAN-I

YUP! That game hit me hard, and I still think about it all the time since I'd beaten it about a month ago.

Every ending to Tales of Xillia 2, as well as some other things that happened toward the end. I actually woke up in the middle of the night and cried over one part of the game. Thanks, Bamco.

Pokémon Mystery Dugeon Explorers was just a rollercoaster of emotions near the end and the sidemission in explorer of sky starring Igglybuff.
I don't know what to put here, not allowed to post gifs, not even by putting it in a spoiler, so have some empty space:

When Maxie broke up with me in Tomodachi Life. :( And when two of my favorite villagers moved out in my Animal Crossing Wild World.

A more reasonable one is when I was playing Pokemon mystery Dungeon (I think it was Explorers of Time but I can't remember) and my cyndaquil character was temporarily erased from existence. I sat by the computer crying.

And let's not forget when N leaves in Pokemon Black and White. He appears in the sequels, but not the original BW protagonists. It's really sad going to Nevuma town and seeing their mother all alone.
Did I mention that I just came out as bisexual?

I lost it at the ending for Beyond Eyes.
Spoiler:
I just love cats so much.

But c'mon man, the little blind girl ventured so far, and it was all so heart-warming up to the very end. She's imagining where her cat might have been, how he might have gotten through here or there, what he would have done on his little cat journey.

It's all so sweet and cute and innocent.

And then she finds out he's ****ing dead?? :(

This was not what I signed up for.

Fable 2
Spoiler:
The ending, when you have to pick between your dog and the thousands of people that died working on the spire.

Okay technically you pick between your family (sister, spouse(s), child(ren), AND your dog), or the people that died working on the spire, or just giving yourself a million dollars.

But I didn't care about the rest of my 'family', I just wanted my damn dog. We bonded, y'know?

And the game made me feel like an asshole for it.

I'm thirding Life is Strange, particularly..
Spoiler:
When Kate attempts to jump off the building. Also when you stop by to see Kate in the hospital (if you saved her)

And, tbh I hated Chloe's character, but deciding whether to pull her plug in the alternate timeline really got to me.

And in Gears of War 3
Spoiler:
when Dom dies.

It was already a heart-wrenching scene, but that ****in' song, man.
