Avid gamer here and lover of all pvp type games and online tcg. I've played many moba games starting from dota, dota2, lol, heroes of newearth, as well as plenty of mmo pvp.

In addition, I've played Magic the Gathering Online (MTGO) for quite some time as well as trying out some of the new TCG that are out in the current market.

However, I'm really considering trying out Pokemon Battling, but do have some concerns and questions.

How much depth does the game have? How healthy or stale is the meta? Does it leave a lot of room for creativity when it comes to competitive play? I know that a lot of competitive players use Smogon's Pokemon Showdown simulator to play, but from what i've seen, it's basically the same basket of 30 or so pokemon that everyone is using T_T Now, I'm very aware of the reason for meta in a game, but with some games, ROGUE BREWS (an idea you came up with yourself) sometimes can still have a decent chance in competitive play. And as someone who loves to theorycraft and come up with his own idea and testing them... is pokemon battling the type of game that leaves a lot of room for creative brewing? or does it have a well established meta that is stale and doesn't change much at all?

Lastly, what makes pokemon battling so much fun for you? when compared to card games, or other pvp games. What makes it different for you? Why do you like to play it? If the meta is extremely rigid and there's only 30-50 viable pokemon and a stiff meta, and everyone is essentially using the same thing, then doesn't it just boil down to the executions? like a poker game of knowing when to bluff, when to go all in, when to raise, etc..... and that's completely fine too, but I really enjoy the creative aspect of things T_T
