Hello, this is Vodka here, and I think I need to make this thread because I feel like I've made my mark here. This is pretty serious, by the way.

TL;DR I am considering quitting the Pokemon franchise after the end of PCL. Note that this isn't set in stone and I can always return against it. Me quitting Pokemon doesn't imply me leaving PokeCommunity, either.

Lately I'm not being that excited anymore about Pokemon news, stories, etc. The upcoming release of Sun and Moon doesn't seem to excite me as much as previous releases did, like BW(2), XY, OR/AS etc. I still hope to Arceus, Thor or any other deity that this isn't Gen 7 because I seriously want to play with Volcanion and 100% Zygarde, but if not, then that just increases my chance of quitting this game.

The competitive franchise is really the only thing about Pokemon that I still really care about, as I was never interested in TCG or the manga, I stopped playing the in-game in 2014, quit the anime in November 2015 and don't even really bother laddering anymore, as I heavily prefer tourneys on the Showdown! main site and stuff PC organizes.

Moving on, I feel like I'm growing out of Pokemon, as I'm getting more interested into death battles and shows like Dragon Ball Z, South Park, Sailor Moon, Marvel Comics and Frozen. It's not that Pokemon doesn't still have a place inside my heart, but it feels like it loses quite a bit of it. I don't know if I can still call it #1 in my book, despite me playing Pokemon since 2009 and getting into competitive battling in May 2011.

There's also the fact that I don't seem like getting an amazing player competitively. I would appreciate myself as a good player especially in-battle, but my teambuilding really suffers, because of my habit for using muk Pokemon or strategies like Trick Room. Not that I can't make a good team in a few minutes or something, but for some odd reasons I like to do these, just for my own amusement or something like that.

However, me leaving Pokemon does not mean I am leaving PokeCommunity. I still have a fair amount of friends here (shoutouts to Archy, kosta, Anti, Chase, Christos, Melody, Cathy, Hika, Shawn, wolf, and many others) that I love talking to on the battle server, despite me liking to troll or mukpost at times. I've been a member since July 2013 (2 years and, uh, 8 months?) and have over 3000 posts here, despite not being a supporter.

To sum up, I don't really feel positive about my future into this franchise, as a number of factors struck in. Note that I'm not quitting Pokemon right now, and I still want to have a bit of action so I'll still battle into the PCL. However, after the end of PCL, I don't exclude quitting competitive battling and thus the Pokemon franchise.

I suppose there's nothing to be done about your waning interest in Pokemon, and it's not like it's abnormal to lose interest in the franchise either, but I'd hate to lose another one of our better battlers.

Ah yes some people do grow out of Pokemon, and while I do respect your decision, I'm sure that you'll still enjoy other, more off-topic sections around this forum.
