Apparently there's a suspect test going for Sceptile in the NU tier. This surprised me even more than the Diglett test in LC (largely because I know nothing of NU), but I'm quite curious as to the thoughts of people more familiar with that meta.

It's incredibly difficult to deal with, especially for offense. There are only a few Pokemon that really "counter" Sceptile, and they are very hard to fit outside of really fat teams (Sligoo, Weezing, phys def Skunktank). Against offense, Sceptile isn't hard to revenge kill but is capable of getting a kill almost every time it comes in, especially since its ridiculous movepool allows it to overcome would-be checks. Is AV Magmortar your Grass check? Enjoy eating a LO Earthquake. Do you utilize Flying-types such as Swellow or Jumpluff? Good luck ever switching in their frail arses in safely, Leaf Storm and various coverage moves such as Rock Slide and Acrobatics will savage them. It's kind of like Sharpedo was in RU, and anyone who has ever played RU knows how borked that thing was.

Although Stall teams can handle Sceptile, its general strong performance vs Balance and ridiculous performance vs Offensive teams puts Sceptile over the top. It needs to be banned.

So basically it's like letting Blaziken back into OU?

It has apparently been banned from NU now: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/oras-nu-stage-12-suspect-voting.3568299/page-3#post-6730571
