Hi,
Is there any way to expand the number of palettes usable for a given map in advance map, Rather than the typical 12? I have a tileset I want to insert, but it's far over 16 colors, so I wanted to expand the number of palettes usable. Would this involve changing the A-map ini or something in order to edit those other palettes, or only by hex editor?

Thanks

You can't have a tileset which takes over 16 colors. That'd imply a single 8x8 tile would have the potential to be more than 16 colors. Thus you'd have to use a 256 color mode tileset. There's not enough VRAM for 4 BG layers whilst retaining a fullscreen 256 color tileset. You'll have to index it unfortunately, or break the tile into separate pals.

I was going to break the tileset into seperate palettes. I was talking about these by the way:

I wanted to know if I can make more of these palettes, beyond 12.

Nope, you can't. The last two slot in the BG pals are reserved for text.
