Hi! I'm the tier leader on Smogon and am here to showcase a few sets I feel are grossly underrated in the Übers metagame (/unzips fedora). I hope the PC playerbase will grow far more creative than whiny smogonites that complain about our "stale" metagame!

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

This thing makes certain hazard stacking offenses work, so long you don't get matched up against a Mega Sableye. Primal Groudon doesn't work as a SR user on these teams because it is prone to getting Defogged on by Latias and support Arceus, and generally you'd want to use a sweeper Primal Groudon set on these teams anyway. Dialga saps momentum and can also be Defogged on in a pinch, although it has a better overall match-up vs them than Groudon does. Aerodactyl's ridiculously fast Taunt allows it to keep its SR up, in addition to any Spikes / Toxic Spikes that a teammate may have set. It also soft checks Ho-Oh while leading against mons like Darkrai, something multiple suicide leads (Cloyster, Greninja) struggle against. Overall a cool mon.

Alomomola @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Knock Off
- Toxic

A Ho-Oh and non SD Primal Groudon check that is capable of passing gigantic wishes to teammates such as Ferrothorn and Primal Groudon, since Alomomola itself lures in Pokemon that those teammates can effectively check. Knock Off bops Latios on the switch and prevents it from being complete Mega Gengar food. I wish it could check more, so it's probably better on balance as opposed to full stall, but it's a cool Pokemon nonetheless.

Mewtwo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Grass Knot
- Fire Blast
- Psystrike
- Ice Beam

Incredibly strong, can 2HKO Mega Sableye with Fire Blast, severely dent stuff with Psystrike, etc. You can run Trick on this set but many Pokemon in Ubers can have their item taken away and Mewtwo likes to keep its Choice Specs anyway. This is a cool mon, and is usually better than Mega Mewtwo Y.

I can attest to those sets being quite good. Alomomola is an absolute nightmare if your Primal Groudon doesn't have a boosting move, and it can serve as a last-ditch check to weakened Extreme Killer Arceus thanks to its excellent physical bulk and ability to wear it down much more quickly thanks to Rocky Helmet. Mega Aerodactyl is a brilliant suicide lead that, while only fitting on specific hyper offensive teams, does its job very well in the majority of situations; it does take up your Mega slot, though, which is an inherent opportunity cost. Oh well. Choice Specs Mewtwo is stronger than Mega Mewtwo Y and doesn't take up a Mega slot, although being locked into one move – especially if that move is Psystrike – can be especially troubling if your opponent has a Pursuit user on their team.

A set I consider underrated is physical Primal Kyogre, which usually runs something like:

Kyogre @ Blue Orb
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant / Brave Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

I prefer Brave because running Adamant weakens Ice Beam and leaves you at risk of Speed tying with the misguided souls who run no Speed investment on their Primal Groudon leads, which stops you from always getting Primordial Sea up turn 1. This set crushes lead Primal Groudon with Waterfall and forces it to switch due to slower Kyogre's Primordial Sea overriding Desolate Land. This stops Stealth Rock from being set up and allows Kyogre to hit switch-ins with Thunder Wave or the appropriate coverage move. The EVs maximise Kyogre's Attack and give it extra bulk, which lets it survive even powerful physical attacks such as Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades; this is incredibly important in a metagame where special bulk counts for much less than physical bulk. It is also its edge over Calm Mind Primal Kyogre, which is incredibly susceptible to physical attacks and almost never gets a Calm Mind up anyway as its presence simply invites in dangerous physical attackers. Unfortunately, this is the only Kyogre set that is significantly crippled by burn and Foul Play users, which means it can sometimes be pressed for switch-in opportunities.
