2016 has been something of a strange year. We've seen some pretty solid hits, but some genres have been passed over. The Racing genre is one such genre, with the only hype generated either going to the badly-received Need for Speed or Rocket League. The Xbox One port of Rocket League. Needless to say, Racing hasn't exactly gotten its dues. Unless you consider sprinting in the Olympics with Tails and Luigi to be worthy of Game of the Year.

So, as a fan of Racing Games or someone who's not a fan but indulges every now and again, is there any new title that you're looking forward to or any Franchise you'd like to see make a comeback?

Personally, I just want a new Diddy Kong Racing.

Crash Team Racing Remastered plz? Anyway obviously that won't ever happen.

There's also Gran Tursimo Sport, which my Dad (yes dad) would want us to play soon since he is such a big racing fan, and HE was the one who got us Gran Turismo back in the day.
Yeah, the only two racing games I've ever enjoyed and would like to see make a comeback have already been mentioned: Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing. I'd never even consider buying any other racing game...I just find them so boring. Racing games are one of my least liked genres, because I just don't get what is so exciting about driving a car around in circles.

Mario Kart doesn't really do anything for me either because I'm not hugely attached to any of the characters...and after Double Dash I haven't even been able to play co-op with my little brother, which was the only reason I played that one anyway.

Nice curveball with the thread title there.

I miss all of the old Crash games. I'd love a PS4 store release of the five classic Crash games (1,2,3, Bash and Team Racing), one of the big reasons I get annoyed that PS4 & 3 don't share the same store.

I'm looking forward to the release of this year's F1 game as a major F1 fan. Codemasters have been a bit disappointing with the last few releases, but they have a good platform to build on from F1 2015 and I'm sure they will do that this year.

I will be hoping Asetto Corsa's PS4 release goes well as it looks like a strong sim racer and has a few cool classic F1 cars.

I do wish we had a good option for free roam street racers, but all we have is another boring NFS release and The Crew which I tried and it seemed underwhelming. A new Test Drive Unlimited (if the launch wasn't as bad as TDU2) or Burnout would be cool, but they won't be revived any time soon unfortunately.

Xbox players are pretty covered with both Forza and Forza Horizon for both aspects of racing games, but it's starting to become a bit of a drought for good racing games on PS4.

Is Midnight Club still going? I remember having loads of fun with Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition back in the day. I'd probably check that out if I saw a new/decent game pop up soon.

Spoiler:
New NFS and DRIVECLUB killed the racing genre.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I want something new... modern racers suffer from bad and rubberbanding AI way too much... And since it pretty much became a feature, I don't think new racers would omit using it...
