I'm in an odd predicament, PC. I was sitting down watching TV with my dog when he suddenly sneezed. Instinctively I started to say "bless you," but decided against it and instead pet him. I began to wonder if I should have said it, because while he doesn't understand, it's just a customary and nice thing to do, and I don't see why my dog wouldn't deserve to be blessed. So, should I be saying 'bless you' when my dog sneezes? Do people already do it? Am I over thinking this? This is really bugging me.

if someone's dog sneezed and i heard them bless it afterwards i'd definitely be giving them the head tilt stare

This is what I thought when I read the title:

You're overthinking it. It's habit for someone to say bless you and if you just did it without thinking then it's nothing. If you did it more deliberately then you probably think of your dog as more like a person or individual than just an animal you keep around.

I always say it to my dogs when they sneeze. To me, it's no different than saying it to a human imo. People don't really think that dogs or any animal is as important as a human being if you ask me. Not that the animal would care either way, but like Archy said... you did it out of habit most likely.

My mother always says it to my dog whenever she sneezes. It doesn't really mean much, and is just a force of habit. Your own dog doesn't care, and was probably just happy to hear your voice.

Though, I too also thought this was about baptizing your dog, and I was coming into this topic to say that one of my family's dogs was baptized years ago.

I once told my cat "bless you"

The clips are all loaded,
now what shall you do?

I see my clickbait title is coming along nicely.

My other dog actually sneezed today too, and once again I thought about saying 'bless you'. This may torment me for life, so judging from peoples reactions here I guess I'll just say it in the moment and not worry about it too much.
