Ummm...I`m on a THGTTG kick, right now, considering the movie comes out in about...five days...and...so I decided I`d make a topic about it to see if anyone else likes/has read the book.

I`m sorta worried about the movie, though. I hope they did a good job on it. The comercials are weird, and the blonde guy that they go to play Zaphod looks much more straggly than I expected Zaphod would look.
I like the guy they got to play Arthur...though I haven`t heard him speak, I`ve seen him, and he looks sorta Arthur Dent~like.
And they got the guy that was in Dogma to do the voice for Marvin! That made me happy.

But, anyway...I think that because they made THGTTG into a movie, they have to make The Rastaurant At The End of the Universe into a movie, too...anyone who has read THGTTG understands that.
I haven`t read TRATEOTU, yet...but, I was gonna check it out at school, tomorrow...ummm...yeah.

I read the book a few years ago actually, it was okay. A little different from most stuff I read, but I liked it enough to read it a couple more times. Not sure about the movie though, there are usually stuff in book to movie adaptations I don't like...But I'm just picky.

I got a free double pass to see the movie, I'm going tonight. ^^;

EDIT, April 28: So yeah, I went to the advance screening. Despite some problems with the sound in the cinema I went to, and some very annoying people who insisted on laughing loudly at inappropriate moments, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It's very true to the book, especially in the beginning - enough that I knew the exact words they would say next - although it changes slightly as the film goes on. Alan Rickman is excellent as the voice of Marvin.

Benjamin Franklin

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of paintings or music, yet sublimely pure and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show."

Yeah!
I loved it. Some of the stuff was different from the book, like they added characters, and such, but other than that, I love it. I wasn`t really expecting it to be the same as the book, anyway...
Alan Rickman was perfect for the voice of Marvin, Martin Freeman was perfect for Arthur, Mos Def was...erm, interesting as Ford, but he did really well. I think the cast was perfect.

I saw it Friday, then yerserday, and I guess I`m going again, today. o.o; Whoo!
Can`t complain about that...

Martin Freeman was good, but not outstanding IMO. I didn't like the choice of Mos Def as Ford.
