I downloaded a FireRed v1.0 rom from a site, and whenever I patch anything to it using UPSPatcher, it won't work. Nor any patches I give can be put onto other FireRed roms. Now I have absolutely no idea as to why it would do this, and I know I have 1.0 and not 1.1. Could it be some anti-piracy thing or what could be the issue? And is there a way to get it to work? Please, any help (short of giving me a link to a working rom cause that's illegal and frowned upon) to getting my rom to work would be appreciated.

Is it possible that there are more than one UPS patching tool that people use? And each patching tool is subtly different in how they work?

[EDIT] Just a little update. I was able to patch someone else's hack onto my ROM, using NUPS now, but it did give the checksum error message when I asked it to notify me. After continuing it did work and everything is as if they had given me the actual rom. Now I'm wondering if people can patch with my rom. It's under "Pokemon Sea Blue" in the beginner's lounge if anyone (who's had experience with patching) can confirm or deny that they have problems with it. The one person who is trying my patch is new and I'm not sure if it's human error or actual technical malfunctions that aren't allowing them to patch. I really need help with this before I can continue.

Personally I use NUPS instead of UPSPatcher, and it always works perfectly fine. Are you sure you are using the right ROM? Maybe you could redownload the ROM, or maybe see if the patch works for anyone else :P

Well that just a small error. Set NUPS setting to IGNORE. It wont create any errors.

That's kind of what this post was for. To see if someone could patch my hack to their rom.

So are you saying you tried to patch my rom and it worked? Or are you just telling me to select ignore on NUPS and it should work?

:sideways: Didn't really answer my question. I'll set this as resolved and give the reason as user error when people are having issues.
