Hi everybody,

I tried to start playing the game but I can't find anything on the map. I tried to play in a high populated area, Hong Kong central. When I launch the game i have:

- The map well loaded with the correct streets.

- When I move my character also move in the game.

- No Pokestom, no Gym, no wild Pokemon :

- The nearby list completly empty (When I say empty it's blanc I don't even have any grey shadow of any pokemons) :

My connection was good as you can see on the speed test I did at the exact same time:

I also tried to play to the Niantic other game, Ingress which also use the location and portals instead of pokemons and it works well, see screenshot from the same area:

I've been like that for one week now, trying to solve this problem but couldn't find anything.

Can someone help me on this please?

Thanks a lot.

It has not been released in China and i think they'll have some problems with it as google is restricted in China.
I'm actually in Hong Kong and here we have full access to internet so I was wondering as some of my friends in France downloaded the APK and were able to play (Pokemon go has not been released in France neither) I would also be able to play here in Hong kong with the APK but it doesn't quite work...

From what I understand they won't be adding Go to China because they're scared for some reason that it'll have military consequences. You may want to check out whether your local friends have the same issue as it's possible you just have a corrupt version of the game or something, but like it's been said, I don't believe Go is ever expected to come to China. Out of interest were you able to catch your stater?

Humm I hope you are wrong but you might be right ;)

Yes i was able to catch my starter so I actually have 1 pokemon in my pokedex...

i'll try it on other devices and see if I can get it working then. Thanks for the answers guys.
Ah that's what I was worried about. If you were able to catch your starter perfectly well then I believe it is unfortunately just a problem with China not allowing the game. Being able to catch your starter suggests your game is working properly and that you can actually spawn Pokémon - it just means that you aren't finding the Pokémon and PokéStops in China because there almost certainly aren't any there. It's a huge shame and I feel very bad for you but hopefully they'll be able to negotiate something soon - it's a big waste :( I don't know if you have any Incense, but the best way to test this properly would be to activate and Incense and see what you find. If you find Pokémon with it (as they're drawn towards you and spawn on your location regardless of where you are) then it's definitely a problem with China rather than your phone.
