The idea of this is obvious due to the title. I thought something like this would have allready been posted but I used the search function and I didn't find anything but to be fair I didn't look that hard so I apologize if there is a thread like this.

My favorite generation is Gen 5 because it had the best Story in my opinion but I can't decide between B&W 1 or B&W 2.

In the poll above I've allowed the option to vote for multiple options. Although I can't stop you I advise you don't pick two games. I put the option there so people can also submit there favorite Generation as some people may like Pokemon Red more than Emerald but since Gen 3 also had Gen 1 remakes their favorite Generation is Gen 3 instead so in that case that person can vote for Pokemon Red and Gen 3. And if you are like me then and can't decide what your favorite pokemon game is I suggest picking your favorite Generation instead as that makes it a lot easier.

Btw the poll will only include games from the mainstream RPG titles.
I know people are going to rip me to shreds, but my favorite generation is the first. There's so much sentimental value in the earliest main series Pokémon games, and I was happy when they were re-released to 3DS Virtual Console for #Pokémon20. Of course, I will admit there are TONS of crazy problems with that generation overall.

Outside of the above, I also enjoy Alpha Sapphire. The Hoenn remakes were so fun, especially compared to X/Y, even if I'm a bit miffed that Trainer Customization from X/Y didn't carry over into OR/AS, and that's something for me to say since I never played the original Generation III Hoenn entries.

I like Gen 6 the most because it's kinda the one i played more seriously as far as teambuilding goes. The others were just kind of having-fun-adventure generations for me.

Generation 3 is another favorite because it was my introduction to Pokémon when i got two Pokémon cards that were Cacturne and Crawdaunt. I thought they looked so awesome so i went to play Emerald a couple days later. Wich is also again why i love gen 6. The remakes!!!!

Since I started with Pokemon Diamond, Omega Ruby was really fun as it was a big improvement on the originals from what I've seen and I had never played the originals either.

I know lot's of people were pretty upset that there wasn't character customization in ORAS and I think it was because the characters had to be the same as in the originals and in the originals character customization didn't exist aside from male and female which has been in every Pokemon game where as X and Y was a new game entirely so it didn't matter what they did as they didn't have to base the characters off of anything, so expect character customization to return in Sun and Moon.

I like the font you used, do you use that for all your posts? I used to type every word starting with a capital letter on an old forum page before but I was told to stop as it hurt peoples eyes and could really damage people with epilepsy or something. I've gotten out of the habit know though so I won't be doing that ever again.

Is that sarcastic or not? Because if so, yeah i guess this font could get annoying so i might switch it soon. If not, thanks... i guess :D

To get back on topic, Another reason OF COURSE for gen 6 being my favorite is customization xD

I wasn't being sarcastic and the character customization was very cool and made you feel attached to your trainer.

My favorite game would be Platinum, mostly because it was when I started to actually train a whole team of Pokemon instead of just relying on the starter. I got attached to quite a few Pokemon in the process. That, and I adore Chimchar and its evolution line.

Sad that you have to say this. There's absolutely nothing wrong with loving the original games, especially if you grew up with them.

I picked RBY and GSC, and I have no regrets. I prefer the simpler gameplay, and the nostalgia is powerful. I'll always have fond memories of the Pokémania Era and watching the earlier seasons of the anime, seeing the first two movies in theaters, and getting hyped about the new Pokémon in GS.

That's what the franchise will always be for me, not competitive battling or anything like that. Doesn't mean I can't name good things about the later games, but my heart will always lie with RBY/GSC.

My favorite generation would be the 5th one, with Black2/White2 as my favorite of the main series. HG/SS and 4th Gen would be my second favorites

Gen 3 has always been pretty popular and it seems a lot of you guys like it to.
Gens 1 and 3 are the ones that the majority of Pokemon players started with, so that's possibly the reason for it.

My favorite generations are 3, 5, and 6. Generation 3 just feels so nostalgic (they were my first video games ever), Generation 5 has such a great story and nice characters, plus some kickass music to go along with it. Generation 6 is also one of my faves (unfortunately only the Hoenn remakes) because they're Hoenn remakes. Also they have a nice post-story.

My favorite Pokémon games are Ruby (because it was my first ever), White (because of White Forest), White 2 (even though I never actually played it), and the Hoenn remakes.

If I had the option to pick between all these games (and I got it/them for free)? Gen 2 pokemon games. Crystal is my all time favorite (story and pokemon).

But for the more recent gens, it's gen four and five (in pokemon development, not story wise, I actually disliked the story (IN GAME) for Black and White)) #unpopopinion

I love them all though. <3 Enjoyed each one as much as the next!

Generation 3 took the budding pokemon franchise and landed it on completely new territory. In many ways, I think this may as well be the defining generation for modern pokemon games. We finally moved on from concept arts to sprites (for those who watched the anime- that was more faithful to how pokemon were supposed to look and function), there was a huge, beautiful, sprawling region with enormous variety of landscapes, and for the first time we see some very tangible villain motivations. All of this- culminating in the cutscene of Rayquaza descending from the clouds to quell the dispute between fire and water- made the scope of the game reach cosmic proportions. I know we've come even further since then, but whenever I look back to gen III, I'm taken aback at the sheer amount of character those games had.

I picked Emerald because of the amazing postgame in the form of the Battle Frontier.

Generation 3 was the first gen I played and where for my love of the franchise started. I spent countless hours playing FireRed and Emerald and those two have always been my two favourite Pokemon games, everything about Gen 3 was perfect for me, the music, the Pokemon and the nostalgia factor (and the fact that they're great games) keep me replaying them to this day.

This is difficult. I have a couple favorite Pokemon games.

The first is LeafGreen. I love this game because it recreated the very first generation in a new light. It was also the very first game where I filled up my entire PokeDex. It is very nostalgic <3

I also love HeartGold/SoulSilver. Why? Simple. The Pokemon follow you around outside of their Pokeballs. It is a small feature, but it gave the game such a unique charm. Turning around and talking to my Pokemon always made me smile.

I really love Black and White because it was the first Pokemon game with a sophisticated story. Yes, all of the games have had a story to some degree, but BW was the first game to make me really think and analyze not only the story, but the world of Pokemon.

My other favorite is Pearl and Diamond (btw, Pearl is spelled "Pear" in the poll x3) because the fourth generation is my favorite. I love the first generation as well since I grew up with it, but for some reason I really appreciate the fourth one. I think because it is so colorful.

If I had to choose an absolute favorite... it would probably be SoulSilver and HeartGold.

Gen III definitely. It's the generation I was raised on. My first ever game of my own was Fire Red, and my second was Ruby. Emerald took Hoenn to a whole new level, though, so that's my favorite game. It's mainly nostalgia blindness, I suppose, but none of the other generations gleam to me as Gen III did.
I'm very sad I missed out on both the "Hoenn Confirmed" stuff and actually playing ORAS, but there's time still. I also can't say much on Gen VI as a whole, because I haven't played it yet. I like all Generations I've played, it's just Gen III means the most to me.

i picked gen 3/emerald and it's nice to see that those are the most popular options. emerald is the oldest game that i have a physical copy of, so in that respect alone it means a lot to me. it's also the game i've played the most, in no small part due to the fact that you can just hold down the speed button on vba and finish it in a few hours instead of studying.

gen 3 has most of my favourite pokemon in it and i also love emerald's storyline and scenery, so that pretty much seals the deal for me.

Generation 3 has to be my favorite generation. It was the generation that got me into Pokemon and subsequently I found about PC because of the ROM hacking scene of this gen, haha. :3 Emerald is my favorite of this generation, maybe I'm blinded by nostalgia, since it was one of my first ever Pokemon game - but eh, I enjoyed it anyway!

I also am fond of Generation 4. While I don't memorize the Sinnoh map like the back of my hand as I did with the first three regions, I still had fun playing through it. SoulSilver takes the cake for my favorite game not just in this generation but also overall! There's so much to do feature-wise, and not to mention the music and the graphics are gorgeous as well.
