Some of you may only just now be hearing people begin to talk about Nests.

Nests, essentially, are a cluster of spawn points that consistently spawn a certain type of Pokemon. Other Pokemon will spawn there as well, but if you were to walk around in that area for some time you would regularly see new spawns of a certain, specific type.

Three days ago, there was a migration event that saw many or even most nests change. Pokemon migrated to places they had never been before. For instance, I suddenly wound up with a Rhyhorn spawn point (haven't seen enough to actually call it a nest, but it certainly never spawned here before). On a larger scale, the nearby park that had been a Tentacool nest became an Abra nest. This was my first large-scale nest observation.

I'm curious what you have noticed in the way of spawn points changing, being added, or entire nests being recolonized.

One popular theory is that many nests have switched to the next lowest Pokemon of that rarity level in the Pokedex. But my example of seeing a nest go from Tentacool to Abra doesn't seem to support that theory if I understand correctly. It skipped over Machop which, unless I'm mistaken, would be in the same rarity level.

What have you observed? What are some of the new nests near you?

Well I know a bunch of pikachu appeared on one of our local parks O.O Not sure what was there before, but presumably something uninteresting since I never noticed any high concentration of rare pokemon there before.

Later today I'll be passing what used to be a staryu spawn. Will see if it is still staryu now or something else/nothing at all.

According to the popular theory, that will have become a Goldeen nest. Will be curious to hear what you find!

Yesterday I went to Downtown Houston with my boyfriend and we found a Poliwag nest. They kept spawning every minute or so. I was able to catch enough to evolve my Poliwhirl into a Poliwrath.

That same area that I went to the first time used to be a Doduo nest but now that moved to my university campus lol

Well I just spent a lot of time in the aforementioned new Abra nest. Wow. They have made Abra A LOT HARDER to catch.

I saw at least 8 and I managed to catch two. Most that I saw were very low CP (50, etc) and even on a Razzberry and Great Ball would break out and flee immediately.

I will have to use Ultra balls next time. But holy crap. A 50 CP breaking out and running? I guess it's due to the rarity, but wow.

There was a park in town that I got several Jynx from, but I haven't been back there since the update so I don't know if it will still spawn them. I would like if it would change to something else since there are still some Pokemon I haven't even seen in the wild.

Really, though, I don't think it's fair to have nests in the first place. It gives an unfair advantage to whoever lives near them. I'd rather they did away with nests in the first place.

I'm not sure what nests are. This is the first I've heard of them. Before the update Pokemon would usually spawn one at a time and they would be random. Not really the same Pokémon in the same spot. Moreso the same Pokémon, aka Rattata, Pidgey, Venonat, but randomly wherever.

Do nests usually spawn more then 2 of the same Pokémon at a time? Before the update I didn't have more then 2 Pokémon spawn in one location at a time.

Interesting! Personally, I like the nest concept a lot. I think it encourages Poketourism, of a sort. Encourages a person to visit different parts of their area entirely, or entirely new areas and cities! I suppose you're right, of course, that a person living near a nest ends up with an advantage for gaining that particular type of Pokemon... but... it's only that type.

A specific area may be accurately called a "nest" if it regularly spawns a certain type through multiple spawn points in the same general area. It doesn't mean two spawning at the same time, necessarily, though that does happen. It just means that if you look at your nearby radar you'll probably see three "Eevees" at any given time if it's a nest. Or within an hour you'll see that occur a few times.

Simply put, it's an area with a higher concentration of one type than other areas.
