I hope Ash might be able to win after all this time, considering that Ash haven't won in the leagues before (with exception of Orange Island and Battle Frontier, but still). And I know Alain's Mega Charizard X is also a force to be reckoned with, so I think that it might be one awesome fight for anyone to see.

i hope he wins. but i wouldn't mind if he loses either. looking at the past 3 episodes, Pokemon Animation Staffs doing great with the battle animation. they're so epic that i'm too excited to watch the final battle today.

I hope Alain wins, his Mega Charizard X is too cool to lose. It would be really lame if Pikachu defeats him.

If Ash isn't in Alola next season, that would be awesome!
Indeed, it would be refreshing change, Ash and his doped Pikachu has become boring.

Great article there, Whitney. Nice analysis she has done on Ash's team and how they drastically differ from his previous regional sagas.

Anyways, best of luck for tonight's episode where we'll all either be popping the bottles or sulking in disappointment over a failed league success once again.

Well, Famon's biggest fear has been proven...
Spoiler:
The Kalos League winner is... Alain. Writers' favoritism towards the Mega Charizard X god trainer has been proven, and we'll be safe to say I will never hype up a regional league again.

Spoiler:

That outcome was pretty BS. No way should Charziard have lived a giant flaming shuriken after all that. If Ash was going to lose, it should have been done differently. Fight was better in the first part.

The Flare Arc looks good at least.

Spoiler:
**** Alan, for real.

I was fine with him up until this episode, and stuck up for him when Famon was calling him "the writers' favorite" (turns out Famon was right after all), because he would have made a great "final challenge" for Satoshi to overcome. Satoshi was the clear underdog against him, having already lost twice before, and Alan was storming the competition with only two Pokémon. But you don't give the win to that kind of character. Seriously, what kind of ending is this? Alan wins, wins, and... wins again.

63 trainers who actually cared about earning eight Gym badges and entering the League, and Alan humiliates the majority of the ones he faces with only one or two Pokémon. He defeats Satoshi in two prior battles, and then gets to defy the usual conventions characters like Shigeru and Shinji are held to just so that he can win again? The entire League is won by a character who only saw it as a means to face a single person.

That huge talk Satoshi gave to Takeru at the beginning of the League, the one that cut into Alan vs. Trova, means jack**** now.

**** it, there are other things out there to watch.

Never say never.
Spoiler:
If Ash manages to get up to the Finals again in Generation VIII, make no mistake, you'll probably be hyping it up as you did this generation.

Either way, Misty's now pretty much our one shot now to redeeming Alola for that bait and switch (can't rely on a league, since it's strongly hinted that Alola doesn't even HAVE a Pokémon league).

I don't overly hate Charizard I hate the bias towards it, and that was likely a factor in Alain's victory. And of course Famon's theory being proven correct.

Hopefully Sun & Moon will be better, since no Gyms will make things interesting.

This is one defeat I can't get over with. Ash Greninja managed to live through two huger Leaf Storms from Shota's Mega Sceptile and yet faints on a Fire Blast? I call BS.

Alain is the writer's favorite, that much has been really proven right now. It was an otherwise great battle (my favorite part was when Unfezant and Talonflame got knocked out simultaneously) but Ash should have won this match. It was twenty years in the making. It would have been a great character development for both Ash and Alain at the same time as the former will finally win a league of his own and Alain tasting defeat on the one Pokemon he wanted to battle. SMH writers. The disappointment in my heart is real.

Also, Goodra was useless in my eyes. SMH.

It's beyond a psyducking joke at this point, this is the 20th Anniversary, now was pretty much the only time it could've been done, why does Ash even bother at this point? (Now that I've said that, has there been an Ash gives up storyline/arc?)

Spoiler:
I don't care how many people salt, or hate. I honestly think they just had too much expectations. It was obvious from the start of the season of XY he was not going to win, and if anyone has watched from the previous seasons they would already be aware of the repeating cycle the writers are doing, and their reason for it.

This season was probably the best among all. (In my opinion of course) The graphics, and animations have improved which made many of Ash/Satoshi's battles really hype to watch. He made it to the finals as that should at least be good enough. I'll admit that it did feel kind of Bias though.

Truth be told, I personally think he won that battle. That was an ALMIGHTY water shuriken. Looked powerful enough to wash through a blast burn, and I feel if this was an actual 'reality' battle, he would have took that. But of course the writers NEEDED to have him lose. (Not to mention the Rain Dance ended way too quickly.)

Regardless, people can continue salting just because he LOST. But the Anime was enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to the next season.

Hooray for Alain and his Mega Charizard X! Ash got owned once again. That outcome shouldn't be surprise to anyone because one of the rules of the Pokémon anime is that Ash will never win the league.

Now if only they could undo Serena's design change.

Oh, and as for your comment about wanting Ash to not coming back for Alola, well....

Well, in a way, it STILL broke traditions: This is the first Pokémon League where Ash actually lost to someone he met BEFORE the league, in this case Alain.

I'm not really surprised for Ash's loss at the league again.

But I think Alola will get some pretty bad ratings after this...

Probably even WORSE ratings than XY, which is saying something when the anime very rarely gets in the top 10 anymore, and it's even rarer to even make it high there either. Pokémon's gotten bad ratings since AG, but even it at least got the Top 10 many times until now. Hope the writers have gotten their affairs in order, because I don't expect the anime to last beyond the 20th Anniversary with the way they're doing things.

Given Alola is said to have no Gyms, I expect it to do something different with Ash's journey there. Maybe a change to his quest might actually resonate well with the viewers when you consider how many different routes Game Freak have been taking with the new games.

What grinding my gears right now is that I had quit the anime after Ash lost to a meowth in hoenn and only seen the sinnoh league so when XY was coming out I got excited for it and binged watched the entire Pokemon series to catch up to XY . Also felt like he would win this time around made me get my hopes up. Felt like I did all that for nothing

Believe it or not, you're lucky you ONLY managed to binge watch for the Kalos saga. Had you watched the Unova saga and especially the bit regarding the Unova league... let's put it this way, you would have thought the Meowth loss from Hoenn was far better, and you'd probably not only leave the show, but also probably advocate a revolution against the Anime (I MIGHT be exaggerating with that last bit).
