Okay, so it's pretty normal to try on clothes before buying them because you want to make sure they will fit well, but what about other things? Do you try out or read reviews for things like cosmetics or hygiene products before buying them or do you buy them "sight unseen"? What about things like reviews of restaurants? Basically I'm asking how much research or testing you do on things before putting money down.

Cosmetics/hygiene products, not so much. I'm much more of a "try it out and see how it works for me/my body first" kind of person.

For restaurants though, I always go on yelp but that's because as a celiac, I need to know how allergy-friendly the place actually is. With gluten-free food becoming more of a fad, a lot of restaurants claim to have a menu or claim they can accommodate, but don't do anything to avoid the allergen. For example, I've been to a place where the fries were listed as a gluten free side, but the waitress informed me that they were cooked in the same oil as the other fried foods made with wheat flour. So, even though they claim it's gluten free, it's not.

I need to avoid situations like that because while I love going out to eat, I will be down for a week if I ingest any. So I like to do some heavy research before trying out a new place. It's exhausting ;P I actually think I'd use yelp a whole lot less if I didn't have this problem.

I have never looked at reviews to movies or restaurants that I am interested in trying. I might look at the menu/trailer online and form an opinion there but I don't really care how other people find a place because our tastes are probably different. Plus I am not going to miss out on an opportunity to try something new because somebody had one bad experience with it

I always read reviews and search for different information about hygiene products :) I don't have any allergies but it's simply because I don't want to make harm my body or my cats (some cleaning products for house can be rather toxic >_>). It's the same with my girlfriend, she always checks about cosmetics because a lot of even expensive brands sell in fact products which are dangerous for skin or simply don't work at all >_> The only thing which I never check is the dyers for the hair because it doesn't matter how expensive it is, anyway such bright colours http://hairstylezz.com/best-green-hair-ideas-mint-lime-emerald-pastel-dark/5/ will become pale very fast and nothing can be done with that {XD}
The same is about restaurants but in this case it's more about the prices :)

And here I lie under the migraine sky (c)
