I use Ad-Aware, SpySubtract, and Norton Antivirus, REGULARLY, but I keep getting these annoying pop-ups. One particular one is Aurora. I leave my computer on when I go to school, and I come home, and over 50 pop-ups have appeared. Anyone have a solution?

Close all the unnecessary windows. hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE. That should bring up the task manager (Or in the case of WinXP, you'll be able to reach the task manager via the little button on the bottom of the dialog) You want to be in the Processes section of the Task Manager. Look through the list of processes and check to see if you find one that looks like Aurora. If you do, look at the User Name it's under. As long as it's not called "LOCAL SERVICE" or "SYSTEM" it's okay to end it. Search through and find all the aurora ones you can, and end each one. When you're done with that, go to your "Add/Remove Programs" area (in the control panel) and try to uninstall Aurora. It should work. But be warned, there are some new, nasty adware viruses out there now that are uninstallable. in particular, there's a fresh wave of adware junk infecting computers all over the place. there's an article on MSN about it too. Just don't open any ZIP attachments you get in your emails, and you should be fine. As a general rule, I never open emails from people I don't know. It's a good habit to get into.

Hope that helps!

I agree, if your using Internet Explorer, you have to make the switch to Firefox! XD

IE gets hi-jacked WAY too easily nowadays with all the ads and popups.

This is spyware, nothing to do with the browser you use. Are your ref files up to date for the spycheckers? Use Spybot too...

"One reason why mathematics enjoys special esteem, above all other sciences, is that its laws are absolutely certain and indisputable, while those of other sciences are to some extent debatable and in constant danger of being overthrown by newly discovered facts."
Albert Einstein

"What science can there be more noble, more excellent, more useful for men, more admirably high and demonstrative than mathematics."
Benjamin Franklin

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of paintings or music, yet sublimely pure and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show."

Hey dude, I wonder if you have any ad-supported program such as a free and legal music downloader. If you have one of those you should delete that program if you don't want those pop-ups. I used to have a free music program that used P2P and it delivered many pop-up ads. Then I deleted it 'cause I thought that the ads I received weren't worth the music I downloaded. So if this is your situation, please try it. It will help.
