I am using PKSV-UI in Advancedmap and when trying to save it tries to create a new .pksv file in my downloads instead of adding it to the ROM. I am sure this is normal and I am being naive, but I am stuck...

Are you trying to save the text of the script in a file or compile it to the ROM? Because those are two completely different things: saving it will create a ".pksv" file which is basically a normal text file while compiling it will write the script to the ROM.

As Lost said, you need to compile the script and make sure you copy the new offset, if there is one, to the overworld's script box.

This website should help.

Click 'Compile' or similar options. Then do what the last posters said. Maybe debug if it's convenient.
