What awkward things do you do occasionally or regularly and make yourself cringe after doing it? The ones in the poll are just examples. (I don't do ALL of them, but I definitely do some of them lmao). Feel free to list your own.

EDIT: Super awkward posting this in the wrong section lmao

Okay my job basically revolves around me being on the phone and I literally can never understand what anyone is saying and I'm constantly just asking people to repeat themselves. Like I have to get them to repeat what they're calling about, their names, etc. It doesn't help that I can't understand 90% of people here with their thick ass accents. lol

Also I never know if I'm supposed to say bye or not???? Like is that professional or nah lmfao

Breathe

I can't shake someone's hand to save my life. I never know if I'm supposed to go for it, if they're supposed to, how long it has to last, how firm my grip has to be, etc. People have explained and shown me over and over but I still always end up a fumbling mess when the time comes that I actually have to shake someone's hand. I just hate it tbh.

My job is taking calls too and I hate having to ask them to tell me information again. I also hate it when they don't shut up while on the call. For the ending call thing though I just usually say "have a good day, bye". It works fine.

I don't just talk to myself, I have conversations with myself in public. Just not when there's people around; instead I have conversations in my head. Or at least mutter to myself.

Ugh. Talking on the phone for work. Those awkward pauses after I say something which is the phone etiquette equivalent of "get off the stage" ("Okay, everything has been taken care of." "That's all for now." "And please let us know if you have any other questions.") and they don't say "okay, bye" or "thanks" or anything at all and it's their turn to say something and I just have to hang up on them.

I've responded to people before when they weren't talking to me.

Over the summer I was working at an elementary school, and it was near the end of the summer so more people were coming in and stuff, and I was doing muk in a hallway, and I hear one of the other guys say "hey can you pick that up?", and I was like "sure" and I go to do it, but so does this other kid.

It turns out he was asking this kid who had the same name as me to do it and not me.

There was another time in high school where I thought I heard someone say my name, and I look up and in that general direction and am like "yeah?"....aaaaaaaaand they weren't talking to me, they didn't even say my name, it just for whatever reason at the time sounded like my name to me.

Exist.

But really, I apologize a lot ^^ I always feel like I have to apologize for anything because I feel like I've done wrong.

The clips are all loaded,

Im very apologetic. Too much probably. Even when something is someone else's fault. I take owning up to your mistakes to the extreme sometimes I guess...

Names. Sometimes I get my best friend's name wrong.

I also misspeak all the time. Like when I was serving, I accidentally said "would you love this?" instead of "like," and the lady made fun of me (lightheartedly) the rest of the night lol.

I also say "thank you" sometimes when someone says "thank you" to me. On complete accident. Idk why.

Oh man, this is also a big one with me. I will sit there and start talking to myself as if it were two people actually talking to each other, it's the strangest thing. I always enjoyed doing that ever since I was little. I do it more often by myself than around others but it does happen when I'm around people too.

This has caught me a few times in my life and it's super embarrassing every time it happens.

Another one I just thought of is when I start laughing in public on a train, bus or anywhere after remembering something funny. I have done this many many times and I feel crazy and know that everyone around me thinks so too because I would literally just start laughing or smiling for seemingly no reason. If I was looking at a phone or something it would be a bit different, but no it's me sitting there starting to laugh out of nowhere.

Apologizing excessively
me except with thanking people omg. It is totally normal for me to thank a cashier three times in the span of one exchange. Once for giving them my store points card, again for when they return it to me, and again for giving me my change/credit card back after I pay. Some people tell me I thank people too often and for things I don't need to thank them for but I CAN'T STOP.

That reminds me, I was sitting in for a fellow lobby concierge's desk one day and I was not familiar with their lobby.

So a delivery guy came to the lobby that day and I'm supposed to call the tenant with the intercom system, which I did. "Ma'am, would you like the delivery staff to go to the front door or back door?" Then I heard a villainous laugh for around 30 secs and the lady responded, "we have no back door here at Tower 9." I was so surprised and embarrassed that I exclaimed with an, "ah!!!!????" The delivery guy's surprised expression looked funny too upon hearing my ah. (ahem but I was soooo embarrassed that I wanted to hide in the storage room). Lmao

I repeat myself a lot without thinking. I also ask others to repeat themselves because sometimes I can't listen. I also almost run people over with my bike and you know that awkward situation where you're walking and you think the other person's gonna move but they don't so you guys are awkwardly deciding how to get past each other for 0.5 seconds? Happens to me a lot. Also when you open the door for someone and you hold it and they're like "no really you should go"

This is just me being awkward me but if I start talking to a girl on Facebook or something that I know and I'm cool with, I immediately become super awkward with them IRL, it sucks and I don't even know why I do it :/
