I don't know about you guys but it's like they're suddenly everywhere on the internet? Do you want one? Do I want one? What is their purpose? Tell me how to feel about these new toys

I remember seeing posts about Fidget Cubes going around the internet, and suddenly Fidget Spinners started trending. Not sure why, but I attribute their recent rise of popularity due to the Fidget Cube (they've been around since the 90s) bringing attention to stress-relieving toys.

Fun fact, a lot of Walmarts have been selling over 1,000 spinners per day. They used to be an online exclusive but we've reacted and started getting them in the stores and we can't keep them in stock.

I don't personally care for them, but the ones that light up with different colors are pretty neat and relaxing. I don't find any benefit to the normal ones.

My friend has a shuriken fidget spinner like this, and they told me it was really fun so I caved and bought one for myself. They look entertaining enough.

They're for autistic people and people with ADHD who stim.
So it'd be cool if you didn't call them useless.

My brother had a few and he gave me one. I actually find myself using it more than I thought, especially when I'm just sitting around. I love it tbh.

they help people who have adhd and autism and people who need them, and it's a bit upsetting that they're the new fad now that everyone's using for fun even if they don't need them. the same thing happened with the fidget cubes but thankfully thats dying down now. i don't have a fidget spinner as i prefer the fidget cubes personally.

yea... fidget spinners are getting pretty annoying. I understand them if you actually need them, but when you dont, you look stupid in my opinion. there is this one kid in one of my classes that spins it all the time and I know for sure he doesnt need it. It looks incredibly stupid to me and it seems that he just does it cause its a fad. I have tried one for myself and I think that fidget spinners are overrated even just as a little toy to mess around with.

I honestly don't get this new craze. I played with one for like 2 minutes, spun it a couple times and was immediately bored with it. My nephew has one and his lights up when it spins. I'll say that it looks pretty cool lighting up while spinning but aside from that i don't get it. I know they're supposedly for ADHD kids or whatever.

But it's only a craze and it will die out soon like those rubber bands and sliming did.

Like I said, they're not for abled people, so they don't get the purpose. In my opinion you shouldn't talk down something if you don't know its true purpose.

Calling them "just a stupid fad" and making fun of them tbh

They're not for non autistic/adhd people to use as a "fad"
Well, that's the thing, non-autistic/ADHD people have turned it into a fad lately - that's not the fault of anyone calling it so. It's not useless for anyone who actually benefits from it, but you can't deny a lot of people who don't really need it are playing with them just for fun, hence fad.

Why does it matter if other people are benefiting from them? My Dyspraxia leaves me fidgety, my sister's anxiety disorder leaves her fidgety, there's so many reasons people use these things. Hell, stress can leave you fidgeting.

I see it as a replacement for this pink dude for people who're getting stressy.

I'm an autistic person who frequently does fidgety stuff and even I think these things are kind of weird. Mind you, I had also never seen one before until just now.

Besides, people are using them for pointless amusement (somehow). So I don't think there's anything wrong with treating this the same as any other strange fad.

Honestly, I don't see any reason to get worked up over something so trivial.

All I know about these is that I saw one article regarding these the other day (week? something like that), and now I see mention of them everywhere - to the point where suddenly even a local mart's sign claims they're selling them. It's not even a big store. I didn't even know they existed before last week, now I can't turn around without seeing them being talked about.

I'm still feeling pretty neutral about them, though. I don't want one (I'd want a cube if anything, that looks like something that actually would occupy me), I don't care if anybody else has one - although I haven't actually run into anybody who does have one, so.

It's just another fad that's going to die within 4-6 months I can already see it.
