Finally, after five hundred years, I have finished another challenge. This one drove me slightly nuts, because I loved my team, but also they had some of the worst fire allergies. And hustle is the worst, this is fact. Still, though the grinding at the end was mind-bogglingly slow and boring, it was ultimately quite fun, and I have no regrets! Meet my Christmas-themed tri-species team!

I return with another completed challenge! The pick a route challenge in the Hoenn region, to be precise. I went with route 102 partially because it was early, but also because there were a few pokemon I really wanted to use on it. This challenge is... hm. Fun, but really challenging in the beginning. My play style isn't really conducive to having your entire team really early on, and it made leveling up such a pain in the rear end until I got through a couple of gyms. But I love my team, and I'm so glad I got a chance to use these guys, particularly together like this. It ended up being a really good team makeup!

Sorry for double posting! But I decided to make an update from my Monoletter Challenge here after 4 months of abscence. Here you go!

Monoletter Challenge
Pokémon Heart Gold

Part 2 - The Team Building

Quick update! So once Bugsy was out of the way, I thought nothing else could stop Bayleef and its power. I was wrong.

As soon as I realized its gender was the opposite as Whitney's Miltank's, I knew I was doomed. I was right.

Whitney - Battle Video:
Spoiler:

Clefairy didn't pose a problem at all. If anything it helped by making Whitney use her super potion. Miltank, on the other side, was pretty hard to defeat.

My plan was to poison it so I could deal damage while the poison itself gradually took down its health. However, this thing holds a Lum Berry, so I was forced to spend two turns doing that. After it was poisoned, at this point, Bayleef was already attracted, and then I was playing with luck. I set up a Reflect so I could get a little bit of defense boost, and then started Razor Leafing. From this point the battle was basically Razor Leaf + Healing, and the hope that it would give me a crit. There was a point where Miltank kept healing with Milk Drink, and then I saw a chance to spam Razor Leaf and hope for the best. At the end, poison and Overgrow teamed up and I managed to take it down.

After the badge was obtained, it was time to get some new team members. Reaching Ecruteak and heading east gave me the chance to catch a Machop. That would help me a lot against Morty. So I trained it a bit, and it learned Payback. My salvation.

Morty - Battle Video:
Spoiler:

Comparing this battle to the last one, I'd say I'm getting along well now. This should be interesting from now on.

I caught another team member after that, Mantine, and am currently training it on my way up the lighthouse. Also Bayleef finally evolved! :O (I certainly didn't forget about that and just saw it now while editing the post and checking my team).

Team

Meganium | Naughty nature | Overgrow
Lv. 32 @ Miracle Seed
Petal Dance
Headbutt

PoisonPowder

Machoke | Quirky nature | Guts
Lv. 31
Karate Chop
Payback
Revenge

Culinary Challenge Update 1

Team:
Fennekin LVL 15
Scratch/Tail Whip/Flame Charge/Howl

Badges (1) Bug Badge

So the first gym was pretty easy as long as you spam Howl a few times and then it is just a breeze with using Scratch and Flame Charge. Other than that not much really happened or anything noteworthy.

Janp, i'm taking Kalos challenge with the scramble rule and because i'm using Eternal X romhack any pokemon until Kalos game is available. So pick randomly from all of them.

About the in-order challenge how about the added evolutionary line that's next to each other like Gallade next to Probopass even though Kirlia and Nosepass is not next to each other?

And btw, my first challenge i choose is Trio-Species Challenge with Garchomp (Hacked in), Staraptor, and Ninetales. And i'll do it in PHOTONIC SUN! MWAHAHA (I'm gonna die am i?)

Here you go for Kalos team. Good luck:

As for the new evolutions, they are allowed as long as the new evos are next to each other in the dex.

And good luck. I've never played any of the 3DS games romhacks, but would like to do so one day. But I'm to lazy to set them up.

Now this one is going to be a long, long post. This one would include update on my journey and that's not little so i'm going to cramp this entire post up, also before that i'm going to explain why photonic sun is the hardest romhack in my opinion and why did i pick my team.

So let's start with why Photonic Sun is so hard
Spoiler:
So, to explain this. I'm just going to give you some points
1. All important trainers starting from Hala's part starts to have good IV, proper EV spread, and items and that's not to mention that this includes Ace Trainer and Veteran
2. E4 and Champion are level 100, so you don't have an upperhand against them through level stats
3. Perfect EV Totem pokemons? Just imagine how'll you face that. Not to mention all of them except Totem at Ilima's trial hold an item, and they have moves to keep pressing with their strategy as using detect at the first round so ally could enter (That hurts considering Totem Lurantis's SOS called a perfect EV Drought Ninetales)

Fortunately you'll be able to buy a lot of important items from early on since battle dome can be accessed after finishing Lana's Trial and EV reducing berries even unlocked before that but still, it's not that easy. Especially since i now only have access to three pokemons only

And then why i choose my three pokemon
Spoiler:

1. Ninetales
Ninetales was my MVP from Eternal X back at Pokecommunity GT 2019, in this hack it become a Fire/Fairy and get some boost on Sp. Attack that definitely helps. Not to forget that it has access to drought which means drought powered STAB Flamethrower and Solar Beam as normal. Also it has access to STAB Moonblast and Dark Pulse which combined with high enough speed stat is great against variety of opponents. I actually was considering Alolan Ninetales because of Freeze Dry, but lack of Drought and Solar Beam might hurt alot in the long run

2. Garchomp
Well Garchomp had access to a ton of move and it could become my physical anchor since it has high Attack and Speed stat, STAB Earthquake and STAB Outrage also make it really powerful in the long run.... However after running Garchomp for awhile i realized i was kind of mistaken on picking this pokemon. Why?
1. You don't have access to Earthquake and Outrage for awhile and that's really hurt
2. Compared to my second choice for this spot Gengar, it has a slower exp gain and with high level cap to evolve it's a total chore to grind. Not to mention Mega Gengar outclass Mega Garchomp by quite a lot.
However, it's still a solid pick in completing this game

3. Staraptor
WHY STARAPTOR? Some of you might say, it's actually kind of simple. In completing this game i'll obviously gonna fight again Ultra Necrozma and few other powerful pokemon.. So how should i beat them? It's by Focus Sash + Endeavor actually that's why i choose this pokemon, besides this pokemon has early access to Close Combat and with STAB Brave Bird and Giga Impact. This pick was actually solid and had carried me in the game until this point. (Although i should've picked up Gengar to replace either Garchomp and Staraptor but oh well)

Well now, this is the journey Transcript
Part 1 - Melemele Island
Spoiler:
So we start this by hacking a perfect IV Gible in with 0 EV whatsoever, Gible is faraway here and you'll realize that you can still eat a beatdown even though you think perfect iv pokemon is invincible, so we skip a few stuff. Hau is easily defeatible since his Litten's movepool is not good yet. Early on Gible get Dragon Rage at level 7. And so he is invincible at this point, all pokemon is dead by just one hit including when we fight Hau's Popplio and Pikachu again at the festival for Tapu Koko. Even pesty School Teacher and Ilima's four pokemon team that usually kind of hard to beat is defeated quite easily.

After that we travel through and we found the Big Wave Beach, believe it or not this will be one of the most important spot for our journey but for now let's go and beat Ilima's Totem Gumshoos. Here i almost died because apparently Totem Gumshoos is pretty tough, and now i realized there's quite a dillema although i beat Totem Gumshoos but it's all only thanks to Dragon Rage and it's going to be quite awhile for me to get dig, i only have sand tomb and the damage is horrenderous after finding Lillie, etc. We finally battle with Hau again in which i lost, this was my first defeat in the entire walkthrough and i was bitter because i lost to Pikachu with Quick Attack.

However, it's also an eye opener because i realize there was no chance in hell i'll defeat Hala's six pokemons while Starly is only obtainable after getting Tauros Charge. So i grinded hard until i evolved to Gabite and with Dual Chop i was kind of sure i can beat Hala. And i did it, although it took me several healing items and stalling. After that it's finally my time to catch a Starly at route 1 that was blocked by boulder and it took quite awhile to find one with Good IV and Great Nature so.. Yep it was quite the experience but we're ready to move forward to Akala through Heahea Beach

P.S. You can get the training items Power Bracer, Belt, etc. at Hau'oli City so EV Training is easier now

Part 2 - Akala Island
Spoiler:
After mantine riding, we go to Tide Song Hotel where we fight Dexio outside, and as expected i eat my second L here, I managed to KO Mr. Mime and Bulky Slowpoke but not enough for beating his Espeon. And now we go to Lana's Trial but.. i knew i had to mess with Totem Araquanid later so.. in this one we had to grind a little bit (It's definitely not a little) so Starly evolved to Staraptor and my battle with Hau this time at Paniola Ranch actually results with my victory so does Gladion fight, having Staravia sure help. At the time Staravia evolved i actually breezed through Araquanid battle with more superior speed and Flyinium Z.

After that the next one was Kiawe at Wela Volcano Park but.. i was skeptic i'll be able to beat Kiawe so.. this is where Surfing came in. As Battle Royal Dome was out of reach for me with absence of Ninetales (Vulpix only encounterable at Lush Jungle and Mt.Lanakila), so the only way for me to gain BP was through Surfing. After spamming surfing for quite awhile i bought a ton of items (Choice Band, Life Orb, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, and some other items) at Battle Dome. Now for the last issue, i don't have a proper pokemon to beat Kiawe and Kiawe's marowaks was actually perfect exp farm (Just choose wrong answers everytime, you'll keep fighting Alolan Marowak) so by a ton of healing potions, ether, and dual chops Gabite then learned Dig and also evolved to Garchomp and so Kiawe was defeated.

Now after a few more grind, it's time to beat awfully powerful Totem Lurantis at Mallow's Trial. And when we're there other pokemon proves to be easy, but Totem Lurantis hoo boy, i was actually reading the documentation of this romhack and when i read it has detect i correctly deduced it wasn't the right time to First turn Z-Move, so i did it second turn and it's instantly defeated.. However, it's SOS a Drought Ninetales decimated Ace with STAB Flamethrower, but managed to be dealt with by Terra Ryzing. And then we catch a Vulpix (I caught a ton but they don't have good IV and Nature, so keep releasing them until we get one. Thankfully Vulpix's rate is kind of generous unlike Bagon's 1%) and evolved it with Fire Stone i bought at route 5.

By the end of this text i'm still at Konikoni City healing before trying to go after Olivia at Ruins of Life.

Culinary Challenge Update 3

Team:
Delphox LVL 47
Psybeam/Mystical Fire/Flamethrower/Psyshock
Vespiquen LVL 43
Power Gem/Toxic/Bug Bite/Air Slash
Roserade LVL 45
Poison Jab/Dazzling Gleam/Magical Leaf/Giga Drain

Blastoise LVL 44
Bite/Strength/Aqua Tail/Surf
Doublade LVL 41
Aerial Ace/Swords Dance/Slash/Night Slash

Badges(7) Bug Badge, Cliff Badge, Rumble Badge, Plant Badge, Voltage Badge, Fairy Badge, Psychic Badge

So a lot has happened in game from last time, but honestly X and Y are one of the easiest games to beat since the gym leaders (Aside from Olympia maybe) are easy to beat as long as you are prepared for the battles. Anyway got the Dawn Stone from Route 3 and the Shiny Stone on Route 12. Either way this challenge is really fun, but the only change I would really make for this current team is swapping Gallade for another fighting or electric Pokémon since as of now its move set is not the best and it levels up really slowly. So I would either choose a Pokémon that might level up faster or one where the move set and move pool might be better.

Now, a new update yay. I actually decide to do a new update now as i found a new mechanic that would definitely make this already like climbing Mt.Everest trip to going to like a space journey. So.. please enjoy this transcript of my suffering ^^

Continuation of Part 2 - Akala Island
Spoiler:
So, now it's Olivia fight time. This one i didn't grind out that many levels and decide to power it up instead. So first up she used Gigalith which was defeated by my Garchomp's Dig no biggie. But the next one was Minior and i've used Staraptor instead cause of Minior has Shell Smash which after using it could wreck me up (Not to mention it held White Herb). So after Close Combat and Quick Attack i managed to defeat it. Next one was Probopass, Close Combat again skip. Cradily? Close Combat again. Next one was Lycanroc and as i'm afraid with Accelerock i changed back to Garchomp which hit it with dig. Lycanroc with Sturdy ability? What? It then goes for counter which knocked Garchomp out *Sigh*. But Staraptor managed to wrap everything nicely so it all works well at the end. And then the last one came up which is Armaldo. And i did defeat it with Ninetales and her Life Orb supported Dazzling Gleam. And that's it we won.

The storyline then continue again and we now have to go to Aether Paradise.

Part 2.5 - Aether Paradise
Spoiler:
Nihilego died after one Endeavor and Quick attack, nuff said.

Part 3 - Ulaula Island
Spoiler:
So after that abysmal Nihilego fight i now continue to Malie City where we have to go Malie Garden to find the Professor. And i had to fight Guzma now, which he starts with Golisopod. I started with Ace though and with 3 Brave Birds downed Golisopod, Masquerain, and Pinsir. However as it's HP starts to get into the red territory i swapped Ace with Mindy which with Drought and Life Orb powered Flamethrower managed to down Scizor and Vikavolt without a ton of issue. That battle could gone horribly wrong without me starting Ace as his Golisopod is pretty powerful. And then i met Kukui and i decide to go to Mt. Hokulani Observatory. After getting Steelium Z from Molayne i then attempt Sophocles's Trial. Totem Togedemaru get beaten up by the Usual Endeavor and Quick Attack while it's SOS was finished by Mindy.

And now let's finish the Acerola's Challenge.. Except.. It's a Ghost type so my supposed flawless technique to finish this entire run with beating the Totems with Endeavor and Quick Attack wasn't going to make it at all. So i had to grind.... A LOT. But as usual i overgrinded and beat Mimikyu with 2 Drought and Life Orb powered flamethrower (It took very long to grind, i should've cut 30 - 60 minutes of grinding i've done). Then we go back to Tapu Village to buy Dark Pulse and Earthquake TM.. 150.000 Pokedollars to buy Earthquake? Yikes. I used Roto Bargain powers and managed to buy both of them but it still extremely wreck my pocket. And then i fought Plumeria, which was far more easier because my overleveled team once more.. Until i realize.. Her Beedrill turn into Mega Beedrill. Uh.. Oh No.. So i have to beat peoples with Megas without getting access to them? Damn...

And that's it, with the new curve ball now i have to think outside the box again with my setup to complete this whole game. And btw, to those who think i flew this and never died, nope i die quite a lot. It was probably 11 times blackout happened either because i was too hasty fighting trainers after trainers without healing or because i was fighting important trainers without knowing their strategy. That and i also did a lot of surfing to get BP as i need all the item i can get. Wish me luck folks, this is going to be a really bumpy ride now.

Pokemon Blue - Highest stat Defense - LT. Surge: Wartortle, Geodude, Sandslash and Dux
I see you're making very small and fast updates. FYI it's not required to update your progress after every single gym badge, as that would require a lot of posts to complete your challenge. You can make a considerable amount of progress and then put it all together in one post, just so the thread wouldn't get too messy. The rules do say double posting is allowed, but I wouldn't recommend doing it excessively!

But anyway, that's my recommendation. Good luck in the rest of your run.

Pokémon Blue - Erika and Sabrina - They are the most difficult Gym leaders in the Highest Stat Defense challenge, I think, because at this time you should have only:
Blastoise, Golem/Graveler, Sandslash, Dux(Farfetch'd), Onix and Marowak
Only Dux may beat up Erika and Sabrina has no weakness to the pokémon you could catch until now. What's the solution? GRINDING until lvl 36 minimum, I've grinded up my pokémon and got the two badges. Now I am going to Fuschia city

Can we glitch Mew ?
The rules don't specifically state you can't, so as long as it meets the requirements for your challenge, it should be ok.
