Does anyone have this game, and if so do you have the guide that goes with the game? Is it worth gettting the guide?

I have the game and I think it is great. This is the first game in the Metal Gear series that I have bought or even played. What do you all think of it?

Really? Which ones are for the PS2? Cause I may get one once I finish playing the Acid Game. I also heard there was one for the Ps3 already or is that just a rumor?

MGS2 and MGS3 are on the PS2. MGS1's on the PSOne. However that's really a moot point sincey ou could play PSOne games on the PS2... :rambo:

And you're right. There IS a new MGS game for the upcoming PS3. MGS4, it is called. And there's also a MGS Online in the making. Not going into any detail of it, though, sorry. :D

And there were a few MG games back on the SNES...and there's also one for the GBC (Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel)...

Buy Metal Gear Solid 1 for the PlayStation, or if you have gamecube there is Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes which is a remastered graphics edition. Then Metal Gear Solid 2 is DIRT cheap, I saw it for 2 dollars last week. Then Metal Gear Solid 3, excellent game. But play them in order and pay attention to story.

Seriously, i'm freaking out that you never played any of the Solid games. They're amazing. The story is soooo much better than Acids, the gameplay if amazing. WHAT ARE YOU DOING SITTING AND READING THIS, GO GET THOSE GAMES.

The main charecter of Metal Gear Solid 1 is Solid Snake. The Main charecter of Metal Gear Solid 2 is 1/4 Solid Snake(Maybe even less!), and 3/4 Raiden. And Metal Gear Solid 3's main charecter is Naked Snake (not solid snake, even though they have same personality).

Other than that it's a whole new set of charecters for each game. Like each game has different bosses. Atleast 6 in each one. Like MGS 2's bosses are Dead Cell, MGS 3 are The Cobras. They all have a fluid backround (Amazing story to each and every charecter).

Yeah, you walk around you have all this equiptment. You can pull it out whenever. There are many ways to get through, well let's say a warehouse. There are 7 guys in it. You can pull out the good ole assault rifle and start shooting, you'll be revealed by them and they'll call for reinforcements. Not good. Or you can sneak around. Throw empty gun clips to make a noise. Knock on a crate then run around. Throw a porno magazine on the ground to distract them. Hideo Kojima (creator of game) made it that your gun is your last option as a spy. But if you need to use your tranqulizer gun, it knocks them out for a while. Then you have your vital items which help you out. There is a cardboard box so whenever you're spotted, whip it out to confuse them. Doesn't always work but it's a last resort.

I can't explain it well though. Oh, and if you have no weapons there is always CQC which is close quarders combat. I don't remember in MGS 1 if you could grab peoples neck, I think it was MGS 2 or 3.

The gameplay is very good in short. But the thing that beats the game is the story. I don't know if you'll like MGS 2's story, but MGS 1 and MGS 3 have a movie like quality script.

So go out and get MGS 1 already!

Just want to point out that the original MG and MG2 that Kojima appoves on were on the MSX, and the ones that were on the NES were edited and HORRIBLE!

Anyway, Acid was good, but Kojima did not direct it, one of his helpers did, it is nothing but a sidestory. Everybody else said pretty much all you need to know about the MGS series. MGA2, though, is coming out AND it will be directed by Kojima, so it will start having more connections with the MGS series.
