you guys seriously don't know how to read the rules do you?

10) All questions about Anime/Manga go in the The Big Q and A Thread
(Note: This only applies when the asked question's series (if it has one) does not have a thread already (don't make a thread for the series starting with the question) Anyone can answer questions in this thread

anyways, anime characters are not required to look japanese. example, all the characters with the crazy colored hair. either way, Anime characters usually have a trend of similarity. example being the eyes, which, of course, look nothing like human eyes, tend to stay around a set of eye-types. Anime =/= Real Life, therefore, the laws of the real world do not stay the same as the laws in anime. Japanese do not have to look Japanese in Anime to be Japanese. Either way, if you saw a (light) brown or blonde-haired person in Japan, one wouldd probably assume that they are only visiting or moved in from another country, however, as long as they were born in Japan, they are Japanese. but meh just my opinion

I never read the rules. I get by though.

Anyway I've always wondered that myself too. Like in shows like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, etc. I always thought that they hated their faces so they resorted to drawing americans. But in new shows like Ghost in the Shell, Paranoia Agent, etc. they have asian looking people.

Hate their faces...? Never, they mainly draw like that to save time. It goes back to early WWII when people would started drawing the noses and eyes like that to cut corners and save on ink which was important to the Japanese then...that's how the eyes and nose thing started. Everything else is just how a certian artist wants to draw their characters.

They DO. o_O Have you not seen the stereotypical black people and Asians? One has the pitch black (or dark brown) skin with bulbous lips while the other's got either spikey or matted hair with slits for eyes. There's been the occasional French stereotype as well.

I don't watch much anime, but the only "different" person I've seen is Brock and his family.
