The only reason I agreed was because I didn't know before. Anyways, I hate to say it. But the parents had the RESPONSIBILITY over the kid, so it's rightfully their own fault. Also, if I was operating that ride, I would probably have stopped the kid, I wonder why they let him in? They don't let kids shorter than the sign on rollercoasters... I know that they gave warnings...but I think that they should watch who goes in there from now on. overall, it was a sad mistake.

The reason the park couldn't stop him from going on was because he did meet the height requirements. Although, I will agree with Andy in saying that 44" is quite tall for a 4 year-old... my sister is 11 and she's only around 50". O_o;

My friend and I were discussing this today after finals and she also agreed that the parents shouldn't have let the kid ride. A 4 year-old is not going to follow the rules such as the one that says not to close your eyes on the ride. If you close your eyes you'll get really, really dizzy. With all the warnings that ride has, there would be no way I'd want someone that young to ride...

the parents were stupid to let him on. But what else sickens me is that they didn't change the height thig or anything to what people can get on. For God Sake a child died and then one the same age and height could get on again! And what if they die! Then what? Will they allow the same thing to go on?

You can't really impose age restrictions for rides like that at an amusement park. First, you'd have to carry around your birth certificate or something everywhere since younger children have no immediately available identifcation info such as driver's licenses, etc. That would just be a hassle, not to mention how much longer it would take for everyones' ID to be checked and verified. o_O Besides, it's not like age really matters -- you can be twenty and still be shorter than a thirteen-year-old, but that doesn't mean the elder person will be allowed on whereas the younger isn't. If you're below a certain height, then you can easily be thrown from or tossed around on a ride; that's why the restriction is there. It's got nothing to do with maturity and everything to do with safety.

well if they put an age limit on it then the parents would be more likely to not let their kids on it till they're younger. or they should at least have a sign that say recomended age is: I hope i'm not flaming...

I agree with Erica, the kid shouldn't have been on a ride that had any more movement in it than a merry-go-round.

I didn't have any desire to go on the ride to begin with (watching the vacation planning videos it appears that I'd have to be communicating with the other riders, which I would not like to do at all), but I will not be going on the ride at all when I go to Disney in a few weeks.

They do warn you a lot more on that ride about the usual stuff (like if you have hearts conditons) than on some of their others. The ride is a realisitc space shuttle launch simiulation in which you even experience some weightlessness, why parents would allow a four year old on something like that is beyond me. The main problem with the ride was the G. It 's only 2 Gs but you're in that state for a while. A theme park near us has a roller coaster that at one point goes 4.5Gs, but it's for such a short period of time that it's not dangerous.

They really need to be arrested for child endangerment, but if any of you know anything about the child welfare system in Florida, you know that they care less about the safety of children than any state in the nation. Just think about Jessica Lunsford and Sarah Lunde, both little girls who were raped and murdered--they let child rapists roam the country with little or no restriction, AND it seems they're reluctant to prosecute them to the full extent of the law in the first place. This is just another example of Florida's apathy. I would also go into the sad state of parenting in this country, but it seems most people have gone into that already so I won't =/
I could see why you think that. But if someone runs over someone and kills them, they're not going to be arrested. Atleast I don't think. I'm kind of stupid.

I do addmit that letting him go on the ride was very stupid. But some parents let their little kids see R rated movies, some let them stay up late, some let them see nude pictures, (Just kidding.) in this case, the parents let him ride on a very intence ride.
Everyone who says that it's the parent's fault, have very high rep.

I am very pissed off. I'm trying to quote Chariman Kaga, but it won't work! WTF!

See, everyone does agree with each other. Just to get rep. I don't agree with people and that's why my rep is invisible.
And you have what proof to back this up?

That's what manslaughter is, and yes a person can and is usually thrown in jail for that. Or at least have heavy fines placed on them.

You said it yourself, the parents let him do it, so any problems that came out of that is their fault. And check other people's rep, almost everyone on PC has it to that level.

Tell you later. What da heck? I never even posted that. You just made that up. (It's Raven's fault.)

I thought mistakes were okay. That's what God said, but you know, it is bad.

?

Will add proof to back me up, after I work the dam quote button! F-!!!

Yay! It worked, but I had to get rid of the other quotes.

I put some stu... I forgot. Oh, yeah, I put some stuff in the quote stuff, by accident, but the big print is mine.

One thing to say... Stupid Parents.
Even that he was 'fat' enough, he is a children.

Argh, some people are really stupid...
Incredibly, and I have no sympathy for the parents or the attraction. I only feel sad about the kid. It's not his fault. At four, you can't possibly expect the kid to know. ~_~; And yes, there should also be age limits.

You'd happilly let a 4-year-old ride an attraction more powerful and exhilerating than the fastest roller-coaster? Oh well... I just wouldn't like to be your child XD (No offense intended to your real children when/if you have some... *shuts up*)

I blame the security system of Disney World and the Parents for actully letting him on the ride.
*shrugs* As long as the child passes the height and (possibly) weight requirements, I don't think WDW can be held responsible for him. If he weren't tall enough to go on the ride and they let him on anyway, then they could be blamed, but as it is now... I don't see how it's anyone but the parents' fault.
