o.o I agree with younger children having mobiles to a certain extent, for example, in special circumstances. For example, when I moved from Nova Scotia to my current city, Toronto, it was a huge change. Toronto is much bigger than any city I'd ever lived in and we had to spend the first one or two weeks in the downtown core before we could move into our house. My mom was worried what might happen to me if I got lost, so they got me my phone for Christmas that year. Now I don't use it for emergencies or anything, since I'm older, but really that's all I had it for before now.

So, I think mobiles are okay for kids to have if they have overprotective parents or just for emergencies, etc. It's when you get them really amazing, overpriced phones that are completely unnecessary for a child that bugs me. o_O;

I lost my train of thought midway through that post and possibly even my main point. XD Oops.
Yeah...see...I'm rarely more than two feet behind my mother so the chances of me getting lost are very slim. I don't like going off on my own so whenever we would head downtown I was always safe. Still am, went to the mall today. Think I went off my own? No... I went to the Bay and Gap and Sears for several hours, even though its no fun at all and I'd rather be at EBGames. I dunno, I'm weird like that. I don't like being on my own. I have no use at all for my phone, and didn't really want it. I just have it (and the only reason I agreed to it) was in case of any emergencies at highschool or at home (since I stay home a lone a bit now since I'm older). I honestly cannot think of any other reason for me to have it. I'm outside of Toronto, perhaps if I was living in Toronto I'd be wandering around on my own more and at a younger age (although I would certainly hope not), then yeah I think a mobile phone would be must (although I don't think kids should be wandering around on their own until 18. It's a parents job to protect you, if they just let you roam free then their doing a lousy job and they shouldn't put their trust in a phone.)

I'm spoiled, but not as bad as some people. o_o;

I don't do chores or anything, I mean, I clean my room when it needs it, and straighten my bed and stuff, but nothing else really. I've got a mp3 player and this computer in my room. But this computer's not new, my parents found it a pain to have me in their room on it all the time. XD So, they moved it in here. The only recent thing they bought me was a new CD burner, but that was only cuz the one I had was ancient, and died. XD I buy my own stuff almost all the time, my grandma DID get me a CD a few weeks ago for no apparent reason, but yeah, she just does that. XD I'd probably appear spoiled as much money I carry around most of the time, cuz I hoard all my money together and only buy things like once every 2-3 weeks or so. I'm telling ya, I still had my birthday money from last year in my wallet until about April. XD

But yeah, I know a lotta people around here, especially girls, that have cell phones, that are younger than me. I don't need one, I don't even want one. No one calls me anyway. XD A car I guess is okay, I'm getting one, but it's a 1988 Pontiac Grand-Am with about 210,000 miles on it. So...yeah. XD Feel free to comment and laugh at my future car. XD

I'm spoiled to an extent, but I do have my fair share of the house work. I SCRUB the bathroom every weekend, wash the dishes on a regular basis, sometimes (very rarely) I'll get to wait a day, but only if there isn't very many dishes... I have to vacuum the house and do outside work (mowing, pulling weeds out of mother's garden).

I do have a cell phone, only to keep in contact with my parents (mom can call me whenever she pleases if I'm over at my dad's house, and vice versa) I have my own tv in my room, that I can take with me to college, I have a PS2, er, my stepdad's, but its in my room.. A GBA SP, regular GBA, N64, PS (also stepdads) and a NES + games for all of them. However, I didn't get them all at once, I've been working on all that for 15 (16 in November) years now... I wear glasses and I have contacts that I wear to school. I dress preppy in my peer's eyes (I definately don't act it tho, I'm not stuck up and so not a jock...) I have nice clothes (thanks to eBay for that one... XD) I think a car at 16 would be nice, but not likely.. Mom has already told me that she wants to get me my own laptop for Christmas (she told me cause I wanted to go to a concert that would have cost more than the laptop)

I do get what I want when we have the funds and if I've acted nicely.. But I do have a lot of work to do on a everyday basis...

A 6 year old with an Ipod?!! That's Crazy!

As for me, my brother an I are not spoiled. I have to wait for prices to come down before I can get anything. I was told that I can get a Cell Phone when I can pay the extra 20 dollars to add the Phone to their plan.

The only "luxury" my brother and I have is we have our own computers. (And that's because we are homeschooled and need them to do our work)

I just read this article on how parents nowadays are spoiling their children. And I'm wondering... what do you think is the limit for spoiling? And... do you consider yourself spoiled? Is giving a 16 year old a new car too much? Is giving a 6 year old an iPod too much?

Discuss.

*hides* o.o;
It depends on the kid. Does the 6 year old really want iPod? That's a part of the question. It has to be affordable by the parent too, obviously. If the PARENTS have/observe legitimate reasons for buying their kids the iPod, then by all means they should. Technically if the iPod makes the kid will make the kid happy for the effort its worth to buy it, they it will be very good to buy it for him.

As for the 16 year old, he should be relatively more mature, but buying such a huge present such as a new car for anyone is stupid. =/ Unless the family is really rich and don't consider it big--then they should consider if the car will really be a benefit. But if it's more then the 16 year old can handle or derserve, then yes, the car will not only spoil him but wreck him, and should not be given to him.

And me, I grew up pretty bad.... d= err... no need to talk more about it. Oo

wow, that's never happen with,im like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.i live of of my parents money.
Isnt it cold outside?
When it feel like no ones loving you
But Im watching you
And Ill never hold you down
And they say
That souls can never fade
But along the way
It seem your shadow was erased
Life is jaded, love had faded
Let me take you away from here oh
Let me kiss you, they wont miss you
Let me lift you away from here
Arent you paranoid?
When it feels like someones watching you?
But Im protecting you
And you need not be afraid
And they said
To follow voices in your head
And thats where I fed
My soul when I was dead
Life is jaded, love had faded
Let me take you away from here oh
Let me kiss you, they wont miss you
Let me lift you away from here

I don't really think I'm spoiled. Nor are any of my friends (I can't STAND people like that). My brother and I both have our own computers with top internet, but that's only because he needs it for homework, since he's in year 11. And what kind of parent gives one of their kids a computer, and not the other? Most people have computers now, anyway. And TVs. Why should the parents get TVs if the kids don't?

There was a kid in my primary school called Ruby who used to be dirty, stickin' rich. No one liked her. People used to bully her and steal her stuff after school. Normally, I wouldn't approve of such things, but she had it coming. May she die a slow, and painful death and suffer in hell for all eternally. Or at least made miserable at high school, too. ^_^

Emm well , let me start with , south american live is really different from usa ones.

First off , i dont do any type of chores, just wash sometimes the dishes. On my house there 1 maid all the time, and another one just in case extra help is needed. My mom on the other hand , likes to do the food and she doesnt work. My father works , and them he watches baseball. I stay on the pc, hear music with my ipod, read and do whatever i like to because i am on vacation.

Now , youll think what a wonderful life ...but it isnt it.3000Bs = 1$. 4 years ago 600bs=1$ . So our country economy is terrible, some people get paid 133$ montly. We cant buy dollars because the goverment enforced a law .

I , all my life being spoiled , as being the soo waited only daughter in my family. I always enjoyed all priviledges possible. I ask for much , in other times my parents could buy me anything i wanted , if i behave well and things.

Now a days , i still love to be spoiled and i feel i am so , even though not like such older times.

Yep^^ i am spoiled.. I go to usa and europe most the time in my vacations. I attend one of the best private school in my country, i got a above average cellphone,mp3 . Plus my parents are so loving with me , and thus this i never had any problem with them.

But if your think getting a 16year old car is spoiled , then you havent met a friend of mine which at 17 has a new ferrari... or one of my classmates who like channel j12 diamonds watch, or another one who has private jet.... yep thats extremely spoiled, but they can afford it. And if i was parent and i could give my son or daughter anything they want and deserve i would.

Those classmates work hard on school , and are nice person average plus they dont brag about things .

As you can see , in the us you find mostly all things done (food, services etc) , here its harder, and we earn less. Of course , we have sunshine all the type and maids are really cheap.. and uh i dont know.

Not that many people I know right now are spoiled, well, maybe this one guy I know who gets like 5 new CDs every week. I knew alot of spoiled people when I used to live in my old town, where this one guy used to get 4 new games a week.

It's like the opposite for me, I rarely ask for anything
It was hard to tell just how I felt
To not recognize myself
I started to fade away

And after all it won't take long to fall in love
Now I know what I don't want
I learned that with you

The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn't the ending so much as the start
The tragedy starts from the very first spark

Losing your mind for the sake of your heart
The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn't the ending so much as the start
