What is the best program from sprite/t-card creation? I hate using Paint and want something worth while. Any suggestions?

Paint is where it's at. Just practice a lot and you should eventually get better with it, Dark Draco. I don't know anyone that uses something different though, sorry.

I must be one of the few people around here who doesn't use MS Paint to make sprites (I've used Photoshop a lot, myself).

There really is no "best" program to use for making sprites - it's all dependent on what you're comfortable with. Meaning, if you're good with MS Paint, use that - and if you're good with another program, then, of course, use that program.

On the subject of a worthwhile program that's not MS Paint, and is somewhat better than MS Paint, I suggest looking up the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). I'd post a link to it here, but I dunno if I can, due to linking rules and whatnot. It's a totally free program that's a lot like Photoshop - though not quite - though it's a bit tricky to get the hang of it at first (in my opinion, anyways).

*shrug* That's the program I'm mostly using for my sprites at the moment, anyways (not able to find Photoshop disks, blah).

Yeah, I have some experience with GIMP. It makes some procedures much easier, but I personally prefer the simplicity of Paint. Cowrie is right, try different programs and just use what you like the best.

Nope, I use photoshop too! but also use paint cos it's easier and you don't have to click off a tool and choose another.

I would advise paint, it IS easy. You just have to keep practising for a while.

You should try both and see works best for you. Because there is a clear different opinion as to what software to use. Some work best with paint, others with photoshop give yourself some time to think about the pros and cons about each imaging software. Both are good in their own right but other people have different tastes.

Good Luck with the spriting!

Actually, for designing t-cards, photoshop would be best because of it's layer tool

Hah, Nice one valdorath. I just downloaded the 'special' version of the macromedia suite from a certain website. Doesn't really help with games, spriting or anything like that. Though it is good for professional websites.

Yes, exactly right! ^____^ Use a program you're comfortable with. I only use MS Paint because I have nothing better to work with. Photoshop tends to be useful in some areas, but MS Paint is a very good program if you wish to do spriting. The sky's the limit with most programs, just to play around with some programs and see where your strengths and weaknesses are in them and see which one suits you the best. ^_~

I use MSPaint, GIMP, & Irfanview in conjunction with each other. These three programs are what I am most comfortable with. If you'd like to download either GIMP or Irfanview then simply google search them. I doubt you'd need Irfanview though. I only use it to save files types that MSPaint & GIMP do not offer.

The best program for sprites creation would be Adobe-Photoshop CS or CS2
here is where you can download them
Adobe-Photoshop CS
Adobe-Photoshop CS2
and those are just trials if you want the whole thing you have to buy it
so the best thing to do is to download either one
and after 30days(when the trial is over) then go on google and search for cd-Keys or serials for one!
then you can have the whole version for free!

that is what my cousin did!:)

Basic Rundown :

MsPaint > Overall Needs
Photoshop > Layer System
Marcomedia > SFX... but this disqualifies it as a sprite. ._.

Also, Budgie_Boy, no offense, but NO ONE IS ASKING FOR YOUR INPUT ON EVERYTHING WE POST. It's simply referencing. -_-;;
