I think of the Voltorb line to be some kind of round Frankenstein battery more than a living thing. Regarding bug pokemon I think they only have exoskeletons, tbh I can't think of any that could have a skeleton, except maybe for Buzzwole...?

If there are pokemon that actually have me intriged in this matter, they are Pawniard and Bisharp, are those things in their torax their ribs or are the actual bones hidden in their black torso? And are the blades actually bones?
So, if we say they're bones, does that then imply a) steel type Pokémon have bones made of steel or b) steel-types have no need for bones because they are supported by their own steel? And does B mean that steel-types have, effectively, exoskeletons?
pokemon anatomy is one of those things that's like...it'd be stating the obvious to say that it's complicated, because obviously the franchise isn't designed to be
this overthought, but like... it really leaves one to wonder. like, object pokemon don't really have skeletons, i dont think (like klefki), so their skeletal anatomy isn't the same as say, something we're more accustomed to seeing like more quadruped, animal-like pokemon. there's also some others that kind of raise question marks like grimer/muk.. what's the deal with both of them too? and slugma and magcargo as well. @
[email protected] really something to think about.
Since slugs don't have bones, I would suspect that Slugma/Magcargo don't either. But Grimer/Muk aren't really slugs, so much. So do they maybe have like, free-floating bones? Although that begs the question of "why" (vestigial?) and "how do they not dissolve in its own acid?"
It's a superb topic to discuss!!
real world biology, can generate elemental powers, then it is possible that the Pokemon's soul, rather than the body itself, hold power over the elements. So what would you all think? Again, there are those, like Muk, Swalot, etc like Colours said. WHat's the deal with them?
<3
I feel like the elemental powers may have had some effect on Pokémon's biology, but a lot of them still have a base body and maybe therefore an implied internal structure? Swalot, somehow, I feel like has some sort of skeletal structure. It just seems more... stiff? than Muk or Magcargo. But it's still very squishy, I think, so how much of its structure is fat-on-muscle as opposed to bone?
I don't have much to say but
oh god
this is a frightening thought
How many skeletons can it have in at once? What happens if it dies with a bunch of skeletons in, what would an archaeologist think about that? Can ghost types even die? They can faint, certainly. But like, can they just... dissipate and move on? Leaving some kind of remains?
