how good is your eyesight? do you wear glasses or contacts? for those struggling with eyesight issues, would you consider corrective eye surgery like lasik?

Decent in my right eye, bad in my left. I already had surgery because of issues regarding my left eye. It's improved over the last couple years, and the blurring and strain are way less. Recently found out my astigmatism was gone thanks to the correctional glasses.

I'm near-sighted so I do wear contacts and it's been ages since I've worn glasses. Both my eyes are -2.5 iirc and I can see mostly clear on the things close to me (rn, I have my contacts off and I can see the text fine without squinting) but far away it's blurry but still retains the shape. As for laser vision, I have considered it in the past but nowadays I can live without it.

My sight is absolutely terrible. Without my glasses I can't really see with any detail beyond like a ruler length or so in front of my face. If you want me to read tiny writing, it will beheld directly in front of my eyes. Lately, I also have trouble seeing anything that is partially transparent or over the top of a similar colour. I need new glasses though, and will probably be getting some soon, so hopefully that'll help.

Apparently, my eyes are so messed up they don't even make contacts in my prescription lmao. That's fine though, I look weird without glasses anyway and I couldn't mess around putting contacts in and out, the thought makes me very uncomfortable. I'm not about to have anything done to my eyes for the same reasons unless it gets to a point it's that or be literally blind.

I own 3 different strength reading glasses for different usage, 2 pairs of regular glasses I change between depending on style for the day, and 1 sunglasses with strength.

I'm terribly oversighted or whatever the opposite of near-sightedness is called. Anything closer than a meter away is terribly blurry. There's also something askew so everything far away is slightly blurry too unless I make an effort - and making that effort gives me nasty migraines :)

As such, I bring reading glasses with me whenever I'm traveling etc so I can read on my phone.

I mostly need glasses to see and read. I can read things real close without them like my phone but other than that everyone looks rather blurry when I don't have my glasses on. Even funnier when I go to get my hair cut and they ask "How does that look?" Uhhhhh like a blurry blob...lol.
I've been wearing glasses since I was...thirteen? It's been a very long time, anyway. My vision isn't great without them, but it's not as bad as it could be.

I would never consider laser surgery...not only is it extremely expensive, having something like that shined into my eye doesn't sound particularly safe. I won't even use contacts; I can't stand the thought of messing with my eyes.

I can see pretty well with both eyes both near and far, though it's been a while since I've tested it

Yeah I've got pretty good vision, although my Mum's eyesight is getting worse so hope I don't have that to come when I'm older! I do have hearing problems though, and technically I'm slightly deaf in one ear :')

My vision is fine - I have mild astigmatism but it's considered unnecessary for me to have prescription glasses. It's strange too as everyone else in my family and extended family has terrible eyesight (all of them wear glasses) so I got super lucky there! Honestly have no idea how nothing happened considering all the years I spent doing ??? habits like trying to read or play games in the dark so fingers crossed that the vision stays good.

My vision's bad enough to require glasses, but I can see pretty well without them. Everything's a bit blurrier without them, but things farther away are worse.

I'd never get surgery because I love wearing glasses and had wanted them since I was a kid. Like, I was happy when I finally failed my vision tests in middle school... that said, I need to remember to go back to the eye doctor and get a new pair sometime. My current pair is nice, but the frames are red, so they don't exactly go with all my outfits. Whoops.

I'm short sighted so need/have glasses but I wear contacts usually. It's not something I think I'd ever get surgery for because my eyes aren't awful and wearing contacts/glasses has never really bothered me. Other than when contacts break in your eyes, that is a very big no

I'm mildly short-sighted on top of having astigmatism. Without glasses, I have mostly trouble with reading as my eyes get tired quickly (sometimes I even get a headache), on top of not being able to read distant text. When there's no reading involved or any need to focus my sight for prolonged periods of time, I'm actually fine without glasses. Despite that I do wear them all the time. Overall, this is a minor inconvenience for me and not worth getting it surgically corrected.

My sight is not probably perfect but still good enough that for now I don't need to use glasses, one thing that helps is that even if I am reading something that isn't so close (like a road sign) I use word shapes a lot more than letters (and apparently more than the average of the people I know) so that even if I see blurried letters I can generally read it well. What gives me trouble are strong lights or reflections, especially in theaters or at concerts where I sometimes need to close my eyes, and I sometimes wear sunglasses while driving (especially in the afternoon) because of that.

below average but i'm too stubborn to get glasses because i feel like they'd make me look worse than i do and contacts sound like a hassle, so i just kinda deal with it.

20-20 vision, at the moment. But bad eyesight runs in my family, so who knows how long I'll have it, lmfao.

My eye sight used to be twenty-twenty, prior to having a falling out with someone I know in person so now I am blind for the most part in one eye. No noteworthy visible, yes a pun, damage but I'll wear an eye-patch some days because the light bothers it.

Simply put, I love humans.

I think my vision is like 20/40 or 20/50 without glasses, so it's not perfect, but it's not so bad that I'm blind without my glasses. (I have a friend who is like 20/200 without glasses). I often forget to wear them. I need them if I want to see smaller text, (like in class). I would need them if I wanted to drive, but I can't drive for other medical reasons anyway so that comes out with the wash.

I remember I just avoided wearing my glasses for a long time. I got them in middle school, but I never wore them really until 11th grade. Even then, I wore them for aesthetic purposes mostly, because I thought it would make me look older. (I was a late bloomer so when I was 17 I looked like I was 11 lol). They did actually help me see the board a little better, but I remember at the time I considered that a bonus.

As for which eye is better, I think my left eye is better. I do remember my right eye started getting blurry first because when I was around 11, when I covered my left eye, things would look slightly blurrier. I think my left eye is still a bit better than my right.

As for contacts, absolutely 100% NOT! I can't handle anything near my eyes at all. I remember when I was a teenager I had to get eye drops and I lost my mind. Like, full on freaking out, hyperventilating, panic attack, the whole shebang. Wasn't fun at all. I'm also terrified of surgery so no laser anything okay bye lol.

I'm always worried about my eyesight, especially as my work requires me to stare at a computer for hours and I love reading every other time. So I use eye drops and do constant exercises to avoid getting near-sighted. So far I keep surprising friends and family when I manage to read tiny print or signs pretty far away from me so I guess I'm doing fine, but sometimes I get small headaches after reading on a computer for too long...
