Depends on the context really, but generally I only take risks that I’m fully confident on making... for and they do pay off for the most part.

I have taken monumental risks in my career and continue to do so. They have paid off & allowed me to make huge strides in my career. I left my last two jobs without another job lined up, moved without a secure job, turned things down, taken on huge projects, & self-funded through school.

No, I don't like risks. I like security. I have done things that might appear sudden or reckless, but if I do so it's because I see no other choice, it's death-ground/desperate ground situation from Sun Tzu's the Art of War. If my back is to the sea and there's no way to evade a surrounding army then i'll cry out, "Long live the emperor!" and try the wild charge.

Sometimes it has led to annihilation, but occasionally I have snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat that astonished even me.

Nope, and it's something I need to work at.

I think the biggest risk I took was joining a public speaking class at my school. Having mild social anxiety, I knew what was coming for me. But it was a skill I desired to have.

I remember the first week when we had to go up and introduce ourselves to the huge class. (Which was our first grade). The teacher forgot to call me, so I had to awkwardly run up at the end. And it was pretty bad. I couldn't even face the class.

I'm still not sure if that class was worth the risk. The teacher said that I had improved. But I embarrassed myself so many times.
