Have you ever pretended to like food that you didn't like or want, just so as not to hurt someone's feelings? Maybe you even forced yourself to eat some despite it being distasteful.

It was in home economics class, and we all had to cook a dessert, and bring it to school. I baked chocolate chip cookies.

There was a girl in my class who was very pretty, nice and smart, and she prepared an egg custard for us. It looked weird, and everybody went silent when it was served. Tbf, I didn't actually taste it so it could have been good, but I cut it up and pushed it around the plate to make it look like I was eatting and enjoying, and smiled, saying it was good just because I didn't want her to feel bad that I didn't to try it.

Anyone else up for sharing a war story?

Not very often, I prefer not to run the risk of anyone making more of something I pretended to enjoy. That being said, just recently my aunt made an absolutely revolting lasagna and left some for us. She was super proud of it, so I think we all just pretended to enjoy it. Should be fine, usually her cooking is much better.

I've tried but failed miserably. I'm a terrible liar in general and I especially struggle to be dishonest with family members. I'm the type of person where my emotions are written all over my face. If I disliked something, someone would know simply by my expression. Usually I won't say anything at all and will offer my best fake smile after my initial grimace has dissipated.

I can't say that I've ever done this, or that I ever would. I've always just politely declined food that I've been offered, and if someone else has ever been offended by that, that's their problem. It's perfectly acceptable to decline, and even if it has been uncomfortable at times in the past - being the only person in the room not eating is very isolating - it's preferable to having a situation like that turn up, because if I had to swallow something disgusting I would probably have a panic attack.

I'm terrible at lying, so I will be honest if my opinions are asked.

However out of respect I'll still eat as much as I can.
