my mom is the type of person who pretty much always wants something, and is often shopping for things online. she says it's because she barely had much as a kid and hardly ever was even able to buy new clothes.

do you find yourself always wanting something, even after you've gotten what you originally wanted? or are you someone who desires less and is usually content with what you have?

Sothis

Will this hand destroy you?

Not really, there's maybe a few times a year I really want something material.

Otherwise, I strive to complete my goals.

I'm more in this camp too. Every now and then I'll come across something material I really want, but mostly my desires are achievement-focused.

Yeah I'm the same as well tbf, I might find something that I really want and I can't get it out my head until I've caved and ordered it, but that's really few and far between, maybe like a few times a year! I feel like I'm quite good with money so don't get tempted into materialistic things too easily :)
Sort of? I'm a very material person, and my go-to way to cheer myself up is often to purchase something. I didn't have much money that I could spend until I turned 18 and started getting my student loan (which I did not need in its entirety because I was living at home but got anyway because you couldn't separate it into course fees and expenses - it was all or nothing, so I went from having less than £100 to getting £3000+ instalments every six months for three years, with nothing to actually spend it on...yeaaaah) so since then I've always been a bit...excessive, in what I buy for myself. If I actually want it, then psyduck it, I buy it. There isn't really a cap on that either.

That said, I have to actually want something to buy it, and I am very good by now of talking myself out of something. Hesitation usually means I'm not going to get it. I'm a horrendous spendthrift sometimes even when I don't have to be. But I am usually thinking of "the next thing" once I've bought something, even if it's just in the back of my mind. I'm satisfied with what I have, but if I can have more...well, why not. It's my money. I work hard for it now, and there's no point in living if you can't enjoy yourself.

Basically, I buy whatever I desire. Usually how much that is depends on how many games are coming out this month, if I suddenly feel like playing something specific, or if I'm feeling especially miserable. It can be both more or less than you might think. Quite often it's less, but there are short bursts where it's more.

i've been struggling on how to go about answering this and i feel like my best answer is... sort of? to put this another way: i want enough so i can be content in life. i'd like a comfortable lifestyle, but that's sort of a very broad descriptor of what can perhaps be a lot of smaller desires to get to that one big desire. but i don't have a lot of big desires, only small ones here and there to keep me content. so i guess yes, in a way, i do have a lot of "wants" but in the end those are desires to keep me from feeling like garbage in everyday life.
