she definitely did

which pokémon do you think deserved to be treated better by the franchise? this can be for many reasons, like a poor movepool in the games (meganium ;_;), to not enough appearances in the anime, lack of merchandise, etc.

i definitely feel like meganium got the short end of the stick in more ways than one D:

being mono-grass isn't bad when done right (see: rillaboom), but being a defensive mono-grass isn't great... the lack of offenses move that meganium can really learn is just flat out sad, so it's really hard to make work. it's such a shame because conceptually and design-wise it's such a cool pokemon. ._.

also this is going to come across as heavily biased but i feel like shaymin/skymin doesn't really get all that much in terms of merchandise. perhaps it's because gen 4 was eons ago and that its time has come and gone, but i dunno. i just wish it had more merch, is all.

I personally have found Meganium to be quite a solid pokemon overall, actually. I do think she deserves much more love from fans, though.

I think both Samurott and Serperior are criminally underrated and deserve much more hype. They are two of the best designed pokemon. As a whole, I think there are a multitude of gen 5 pokemon that simply do not get the recognition that they deserve, such as Liligant, Liepard, Gothitelle, Cincinno, Zebstrika, Swanna, and Escavalier. There are so many more pokemon that I can think of as well (Cherrim, Chimecho, Beautifly, Gastrodon, Tropius, etc.)

I love meganium and it's one of my favorite grass starters.

I really love all the johto starters.

Aight, I’ll give her a chance. She’s got one of the most unique color palettes out of all the grass starters imo.

Agree with Ninetales here for sure, Serperior has always been my favourite starter in Unova and can be a really good Pokemon once you get the movepool and setup down! Meganium is a Pokemon I've grown to like a lot and mentioned on another post how I'd used it in my last playthrough of SoulSilver and had a great time.

Meganium did get shafted pretty bad, though it's worth noting that it was actually by far the best of the Johto starters in its debut generation's competitive OU. However, it struggled in game against most of the Johto gym leaders and hasn't seen much success even in the lower tiers of competitive play, being outclassed by things like Roselia and Tangela.
