Are you a passive person who is gentle and retreating in the face of conflict and quietly prefers to keep your opinions to yourself? Saying no might be hard for you.

Or are you the opposite, an aggressive temperament, the kind of person who is willful and outspoken about what they think, and pursues and fights for the things they want? You might intimidate other sometimes because of your forcefulness, even if you don't mean to?

Perhaps you're an assertive person, which I consider to be in the middle, you're flexible and patient in most situations but have enough confidence to establish a boundary when necessary.

Which do you think more accurately describes you? Passive, assertive or aggressive? I will leave an other option in the poll in case you feel none of these really describe you, feel free to explain why. I.e more of a passive-agressive style.

Probably closer to the aggressive category, although I don't know if I'd use the word aggressive to describe myself because it implies things that I wouldn't say are accurate.

I don't like confrontation at all, i'd rather walk away than be involved in an argument.

very passive.. being assertive is very hard for me in most cases. I've been told to put my foot down several times at work, both to customers and co-workers, but it never worked out since I would get anxious thinking about it lol

I’m very very passive. Even the thought of having to do confrontation irl especially makes me very very anxious. If it’s really bad my hands will start to shake or I’ll start crying if the person yells at me.

It sucks and I wish I were better at it.

no you're definitely aggressive

i'm usually passive, but recent events got me realizing that's bad and i need to be more assertive, so here i am. assertive when it's important, or when things are going to be horrible if it stays as status quo (even if it's not necessarily important) and nobody wants to do anything about it except me (aka really last option). i do hate confrontation though. any and all types of confrontation (even the harmless ones like saying no to people trying to get my attention in the mall about this aMaZiNg oPpOrTuNiTy). i'd rather not and have someone else be the more assertive one (almost) all the time.

Passive - I come from a family that is a lot more hotheaded than me and I try not to be aggressive as it's exhausting from what I've observed. My dad is the type of person to lose his temper over the smallest issues and I just don't want to be like that ever. I have never had the energy to deal with conflict - I would say I'm not scared of it but I'm not the best at handling it either. I do recognise it's necessary at times but will disengage where possible and I've basically practiced not reacting if someone tries to start a conflict with me. I hate arguing with people and only very rarely will I be assertive or even angry, if I feel like someone is clearly crossing a line that they shouldn't be. I do wish I was more assertive at times and stood up for myself more though. So many times I just wanted to say something but I didn't because I felt like my honesty would be too harsh for the other person to hear.

I'd say assertive probably describes me best, I can be passive in a lot of sitiutations but know when to put my foot down when neccessary and call someone out on something if I think it's wrong.

See, this is why I wouldn't call myself aggressive. I'm a very wilful and outspoken person, I enjoy debates and I'm not at all afraid of confrontation. But, I have firmly pacifist beliefs and I never go looking for confrontation. If it's between Sam's three options, I'm definitely more in the aggressive category, but the word aggressive implies that you're the sort to go looking for confrontation and that's not me at all, so it's probably not the word I'd use to describe myself.

I'm a very fine line between assertive and aggressive. Most things won't bother me much because it's just , people being people. Human emotion and reaction and errors and mistakes, and I've ascended past "instinctual knee jerk automatic" reactions long ago, and I'm in complete power of my emotions. Now direction confrontation and belligerence for no reason I just won't stand for, and have no problem going at it with anyone, and I'll certainly always stand up for those in need, who can't do it for themselves.

I'm very aggressive for a person who is normally as quiet and polite as I am.

Like, seriously, get me heated and I'm going to say very clear things in the most forceful way I can imagine. I've made bullies cry at school.
