do you collect anything? how long have you been collecting and how do you display your collection (if you do)? has your collection been a costly endeavor so far?

I don't have the financial capabilities to have a collection lol. If I did though, it'd definitely be sneakers or guitars. Or both.

Pokémon cards and plushes. It’s expensive but I’ve had it going since like 1996 and I’m not about to give it up!

I used to collect Pokémon cards back during early 2000s and then during Gen IV era. I have them stored somewhere in the attic. Will keep them for my kids to play with.

I have collections of dragon statuettes and gem stones. Both are currently packed away in boxes though. I'll put them on display when I have somewhere to put them.

I tired to collect manga but that was a financial pitfall that had no end so stopped pretty early on haha. I used to love collecting Pokemon cards/plushies and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but haven't in a while!

Pullip dolls. The answer to how long I have been collecting would depend on your definition of a collection. I acquired my first doll from the pullip family (a taeyang) 7 years ago- 8 years come Christmas. However, I don't think you can count yourself a collector until you have amassed more than a few of the items you collect. I wouldn't say I became active in the pullip community until 5 years ago. That was the time I joined doll forums and Facebook groups to connect with other collectors, bought dolls from conventions and searched internationally for listings of rare and out of stock dolls, began custom making my own dolls and learning how to sell used dolls. So about 4 years ago is when I would say I had a collection. Though a fraction of what it is today, it was sizeable enough that when I was moving out of my old apartment I borrowed a shopping cart just to wheel out boxes and boxes of pullips.

I display my dolls on different wall shelves, and I have had to install more shelves as the collection continues to grow with the years. I have my boys and girls sorted into different categories I.e historical, fancy dolls here, modern fashion model style over there, next sci-fi/fantasy/anime theme etc. A new doll is scheduled to arrive in the mail today in fact ^_^

Has my collection been a costly endeavor? While a lady or gentleman loathes to discuss the price they paid for something, the often inflated costs of pullip dolls and their shipping was one of the reasons it took me some years to build a collection. I liked these dolls, but I knew pullip like many Asian bjd dolls can start to get expensive, and I stood on the outside of the store window looking in often. Initially, I would just get maybe 1 or 2 a year as a treat for my birthday or Christmas, alwaying pick one that had been released a few years ago and was under 100 dollars, less than a new release costs. However, as I started learning more about the dolls as a collector I also learned the nooks and crannies to search for bargains like Groove sample doll sales, Tuesday Morning, Mandarake, dent box sales, Mercari, and a now defunct website called Nobetterdeal. I also became skilled at browsing through eBay, especially Japanese listings, and knowing the right times that even the best known pullip retailers like Pullipstyle, Amazon and Jpgroove would have sales like on Black Friday. In a few short years I was able to significantly grow my collection by being attentive and getting creative, despite limited means.

My dolls are played with but in very good in condition. There are limited editions, special anniversary dolls, lots of collaborations and many of them sold out, and not replaceable at a store anymore. I also keep the original doll stands, collector cards and boxes. I am very proud of my collection, and the years of work that has gone into it I think is evident.

Mine’s kinda embarrassing... I have a large Eevee doll, all of its Eeveelutions in a smaller size except for Espeon, Umbreon, and Glaceon, an Alolan Vulpix, and a huge Bulbasaur plushie that wears a leaf-patterned scarf. I also have a collection of seven hundred nineteen Pokémon cards.

Hmmm...collections. How did I ever start collecting? Mine is weird, but I collect stones. I'm not Roark, but I find them to be "carriers of nature's history" according to my 12 year-old self. I feel like they are really old people. Earlier it was just for their shapes, and I did it for fun. During trips to the forest(y) area near home, I'd skim the floor with my eyes and gather those which stood out the most (probably not to geologists :P). Without meaning to, I ended up amassing enough to fill a few boxes (I put them in a bag earlier, but my friend observed my "habit" and gave me a box big enough to fit a playstation).
Now I have three such boxes, and I hope I do scoop a fossil while I'm at it :)
I collect regrets and bad memories.

I've collected things in the past - anyone remember the original Pokemon stickers, or Star Wars Tazos that came in Walkers Crisps? I have a full set of both! - but around the time I started collecting children's trading cards and started getting a steady flow of income so that buying video games was a possibility rather than an idle dream, I realised it wouldn't be a very good idea for me to collect things on top of that in the future, so I stopped. I have very big collections of things - unplayed games, hardback strategy guides, comics, series of books, etc - but I don't have a collection of anything, because I only buy what interests me...I can't afford to do anything else, haha. Not unless I stop buying video games or stop saving for a house. Neither of those things are going to happen, soo....

It's not an intended collection but if I purchase a video game I intent to keep it forever. I don't like renting them and when I'm done I intent to shelf it in a place I'll remember for years. As a result I've now piled up a ton of boxed games.

At the same time I don't mind buying digital at all. In fact it feels more convenient.
