What makes you relax?

Hot food does wonders for me, like a bowl of steamed rice or a cup of ramen noodles.

I also always feel better when I am under covers. Often I tuck myself under a bed spread, and curl up like a ball, and enjoy the dark. No matter what time of year I have a quilt or throw of some kind to wrap up in because it makes me feel warm and insulated, like a caterpillar in it's cocoon.

It does not hurt to have a pokemon near by, I might chill watching a let's play of a favorite poketuber or hold a pokemon crochet.

Nice aromas also make me feel good, like home-cooking in the oven, scented candles nearby, or the smell of fresh clean clothes out of the laundry. The holidays especially are lovely when there's the pine from the Christmas tree, and frankincense and myrrh burning by the fire side.

I also like to day dream and slip into hot baths with salts and listen to soothing music or an audiobook.

Talking to my boyfriend who has a calm, quiet nature also melts any anxiety away.

Edit: Also pets. My dog who is an affectionate and mellow older great Pyrenees is wonderful to pet and burry your face into the fur of. He a big boy, and it's like you have your own Entei to protect you.

So what calms you?

not much works when i'm very obviously stressed, but when i'm not overly stressed and just need some relaxation... tea :D it's yummy and helpful for my mood. the biggest thing is actually laying down on the bed though, that de-stresses me more than anything else for some reason. being on the computer tends to make stress worse, on the other hand

I also vouch for curling up in bed - being able to rest in bed helps me to destress a ton. Running/hiking/any form of exercise also helps to redirect my attention from whatever I am stressed about. Sometimes I will resort to comfort eating favourite foods but I try not to do this - food always seems to push me through exam periods though. I find a lot of instrumental music (lofi, ambience etc.) can also put me at ease if I'm stressed out but need to work and don't have the chance to take a break/relax. Taking the time to read a book I like or watch shows/movies I like also gives me something to look forward to at the end of a stressful day. Light conversations with friends about anything helps too :)

Dancing, or any exercise really, was the best for that back when I could actually do it. These days though, music is my go to. No specific genre, just anything I like.

Video games...although these can cause me an equal amount of stress or be the root cause of my current stress, so it's a two-edged blade. But my answer to stress is usually to bury myself in a game that doesn't require a lot of thought and has high level of success for relatively low effort - a Warriors title, for instance. Or I might pick up my phone and do a couple of pictures in Happy Colour or something...colouring is oddly relaxing.

i nap. failing that, listen to music, failing that, rant to a friend. if all of them fail, internally stress about what's exactly stressing me out in particular and how to directly deal with it so i won't have to rely on de-stressers in the first place. .-.

Listening to music, writing and playing Pokemon... those are usually my top de-stressers. I don't do a whole lot, and I probably should because I get anxious quite often at times. It's really hard for me to wind down and relax, especially with there being so much around me. :(

One thing that does help when things get really overwhelming is listening to Troy Baker sing. His voice is just so calming, and it helps me feel more at ease. There's just something so amazingly calming about him. <3

It's a cold and rainy night tonight. I am wrapped in a new fleece throw that's an electric style blanket right now. It's texture is so light and velvety as it caresses my skin, and the warmth emanating from it is so toasty and deeply soothing. I feel so assured and cozy. I forgot to list my love of electric blankets in particular in my first post. I haven't snuggled up in one since the winter holidays last year, but the temperature has recently dropped and it's time to indulge. I am the only person I know who uses electrical blankets, most people tell me that they can't sleep with them and call them too hot and suffocating. But to me right now they feel just right.

Something else that does wonders for me is re-watching old favorite movies, especially ones that I grew up watching but haven't seen in years. It just transports me to a nostalgic realm, where I forget everything else and relive the mesmerization and pure pleasure I had when I was a small child and first saw it all.

I mentioned before that music can also be transformative and spiritual for me. There's one indie song in particular called Only Skin that has a profound effect on me. I daydream and contemplate all of the beautiful and mysterious imagery in song--which contain a lot of nature descriptions that I try to visualize. All the while the instrumentals go straight to my heart and do something that just elevates my soul.

video games or organizing pokemon cards. the latter has always been a huge one for me. something about it is very relaxing and it's fun to go through the cards and see all the neat artwork. i like burying myself in plushies too bc i'm really manly.

That varies through season to season.

On Rainy season, at a hill station you don't need anything extra to destress you. Just go out or even stand on the balcony, You can feel the cool and chilly air running through your body, The view of the area, Mountains covered in fog, Wide area greenry, No pollution, The smell of the soil. Just imagine That! No need of video games, TV, Mobile phones etc. Just you and your hot cup of tea or chocolate milk.
And on Full moon night go our for a short walk with all lights of the house shut. All of you, I bet your monthly stress would go away.

Ok now on Hot summer days, My destresses are Video games and Music. And like anything ordinary you could wish for.

But right time comes on Winter season. Imagine sitting inside your house with your same hot cup of tea or hot chocolate
milk windows shut, sitting near your fireplace reading or playing. And when tired looking outside and watching snowfall before X-mas.
Next morning going out for a walk on frosty road and when slipped and fell accidentally, Feeling better instead of ashamed. Just Imagine that!
