oh i didn't even know bosses were in random locations; another interesting mechanic! does that mean they all have uniform levels of difficulty? or do they scale depending on how early you fight them or not?

I grew up in a small village. Not a fan of all those human cages everywhere. <_<
Change can happen but it's excruciatingly slow. At one point we where trying out (where allowed to reseach) git for better source control. Nothing that satisfied my boss so we're still using an old proprietary system made by a quasi defunct company from the last millennium.
Bosses are in fix location. There are areas divided into rooms. After clearing every room you get a new boon. When you reach the end of the area you fight the boss. The boss stays mostly the same. But after beating them enough times there's a chance for them to have something different (abilities, patterns, etc.). For instance: beat the fury Megaera enough and Hades will question her competence. From that point on there's a chance that instead of running into her you'll run into one of her sisters instead.
