I really love thinking about the lore behind Pokemon, the regions, legendaries, or anything else. What pieces of Pokemon lore, myth, or history do you like best? Discuss anything you like about Pokemon lore here!

Naturally, I really love the story of the Burnt Tower and how Ho-oh revived the three Pokemon that died trapped inside. I really wish they would confirm once and for all what those Pokemon were! I'm convinced they had to be a Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon, but there's never been anything to confirm or deny it that I'm aware of.

I also love the fact that in the manga canon, I believe in Pokespe but I could be mistaken?, Blaine's DNA was used to help fill in the gaps in the Mew sample they used to create Mewtwo, explaining his humanoid appearance despite Mew's very animal/fetus like looks. It's just a really interesting idea.

Me too! This is one of the best pieces of Pokémon lore out there, and I love it a lot. The theory that they were eeveelutions makes a lot of sense too... but I sure wish we could get clarification. Though I guess it is cool to leave that to our imagination too. Gives this series more depth.

I'm a sucker for the Reshiram and Zekrom ying/yang lore. It's really cool how there isn't anyone actually villainous in this scenario and they're just two brothers fighting for what they believe is right, and how the protagonist and N are basically repeating that same history. I'd love to see a lore book with new information for Unova and Johto at some point, or maybe even a video game set in the past, especially now that we're getting Legends: Arceus which focuses on Sinnoh in its past.

I love going down these kinds of rabbit holes, I remember having my mind blown too when someone told me about the Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon theory that they died and were brought back to life as Suicine/Raiku/Entei.
My favourites are that Gengar is the ghost of a clefable, and that's why they look so similar and that cubone is an orphaned Kangaskan baby.

Gen 1 and 2 seem to have the most interesting lore!! I really wish we knew more about the Regis and some of the other legendaries. I'd love to see what the Original Dragon looked like before he became Kyurem!

The regis have a pretty cool background to them I think, actually - you can see stuff here and it’s so cool to think about. Their history combined with that awesome battle music makes them some of my favorites. ❤️

Agreed that Johto is one of the coolest for lore though, part of why I adore it so much!

The Clefable/Gengar one is so ridiculously believable to me omg. And the Kanga baby theory...still is sad whatever the theory is to me tbh. Cubone has such a tragic past and I want to send many hugs

I'm gonna get some weird looks for mentioning this, but I read somewhere that it's very explicitly said in the original Sinnoh games that humans used to marry Pokémon. I know people get really weirded out by this, but I just find it super interesting and I wish we could know more "unusual" things like these about the Pokémon world :c

Yeah, that text got changed in international games. Think it was changed to 'they used to sit at the same table' or something. Probably not something they'll include in games again since they know it's a touchy topic @[email protected]

I have a theory about this! Much like humans in our world are ascended from common ancestors with certain animals, I think humans in the Pokemon world used to be Pokemon too! There's already a humanlike egg group to support this thought, but i haven't really gotten much farther with it than that. It would just make a lot of sense. Once humans diverged enough from Pokemon and became the 'dominant' species on the planet, they started to become something different than Pokemon altogether.
