Your thoughts? If you've seen the latest screenshots you should know what I'm talking about. It's...2D! The demo we saw when the DS was unveiled, it was 3D and very nice at that. But now, bleh. It has some 3D parts, but it doesn't live up in looks. What happened? I was expecting a Sonic Adventure type game. O_o

I'm excited. It seems to be a back to basics approach for Sonic and its good to have some 2D Sonic along with the 3D. I hope Knuckles and Tails also pop up and that it has Super Sonic in the levels (as was the case in Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles).

I hope the level design is more inspired then it has recently been (if you play Sonic 1,2,3, Knuckles and CD), there really aren't a whole lot of different routes you can take in each level (Sonic Heroes is different, every team has a different level, but it's not like Sonic can take the top route or the left route).

It's been said that the E3 tech demo (which is the 3D one) will be adapted to the special stages. Yuji Naka and other members of Sonic Team have been saying this at interviews.

I know. And I saw screenshots of how it is now. Those 3D segments are nowehre near the same quality as it was at E3. That's what I'm upset about.

To be honest, I prefer it to be 2D. I love the graphics now and I much preferred the 2D Sonic games to the 3D ones. Sonic didn't make the transition to 3D too great, IMO. So I'm glad that it's staying 2D, it'll be so much better for it.

And I have high hopes for this game now. After reading about it in The UK's Nintendo Offical Magazine, I'm pretty excited about it. Their brief summary of it:
Honestly, it's the Sonic game you've been waiting for since Sonic 2 on the Megadrive. And if you've only played 3D Sonics, it'll blow your head off.
I'm not gonna argue with that and the screenshots look pretty awesome. For those that haven't seen the game yet:

I'm not going to argue with that. Lol Because it's true. It's just, I dunno, I feel let down. I mean, that Sonic Sprite doesn't even look as good as it did in Sonic Advance. A game with both 3D and 2D in it is what I think would be best (umm...more than just a few bonus stages I mean), since we had seen that demo before.

The Sonic 2 comparison better be true. I'd be fantastic is it were.

It's gonna be another Sonic Advance 1, 2 and 3. Just more 2D levels with the same characters, stupid bonus rounds to get the chaos emeralds, and the same type of levels, just grass, ice, then a spacy level as the last zone, the only intresting thing is the touch-screen. Well, that's what I think anyway.

What about Casino? I love those levels. I am hoping for something good, and I'm sure it will be but the screens I've seen...the 3D doesn't live up to the E3 demo and the 2D isn't too hot either. It's early though, I'm sure it'll improve.

As we all know, graphics aren't everything in a game. Though, I do agree with you, after looking back at it, the Sonic sprite actually does look pretty poor considering the graphical power of the DS.

I honestly like the graphics though, they instantly reminded me of the first time I ever played Sonic. And if the gameplay is as it was described in NoM then that'll more than make up for any shortages in other areas.

Yes. As long as the game is good I'm happy (and it may very well be given how it mentioned Sonic 2 up there). It's just the graphics aren't as high as the *could* be, not *should* be.

It's not the graphics that bother me, it's the fact that it's proberbly gonna be the same as the others, that's what I liked about the 3D ones,it was different, not just another 2D one with all the same stuff.
