As Pokémon fans, most of us had times in the franchise that we considered to be the 'peak' for us - times when we found ourselves most in love with the series. When was your personal peak? This can be because of anything, be it you being super into games released at the time, loving that specific anime saga, or just those precious moments when you were a huge merch collector. When was that special time for you?

Probably as a young teenager before I found PC tbh haha. That's when I still played pokémon and was somewhat interested in the TCG.

Although I'll claim there was probably another peak a few years ago when I played gen 6 and was heavily into forum roleplaying and such. When things were exciting and there hadn't been too many weird gimmicks in the games yet (like z moves, dynamax....... megas were COOL!)

Althougghhhh okay, maybe there was another peak earlier, like somewhere after I joined PC but earlier than Gen 6. I read a lot of the Pokémon Adventures manga and really loved that world, and I also did forum RPing at that time and so did many others d: It was fun.

I guess it's not about a peak and then everything going downhill. It's all hills and valleys for me ^^ Kinda deep valley now, but who knows, maybe one day I'll pick it up and be very interested again.

2010-2012. Gen 5, the final set of games before Pokemon transitioned to full 3D. Unova was imo one of the most beautiful regions, & BW/BW2 had imo the best storyline of any main series game. DPPt's my favorite still, but I can't deny that the ones that came after blew everything out of the water.

I definitely think the games' story peaked during BW, they were absolutely perfect. <3

For me, things probably peaked around gen III (RSE primarily), I've loved Pokémon since the early gens but my biggest addiction to playing was when RSE were out. I'd have two copies, one as my main and another to replay - every time I beat the league I'd mix records with my and a friend's main game to get the secret base data, then start a new file again. It just never got old.

My second peak was the first half of the BW anime airing. Back then I was addicted to Unova as a whole and just loved Cilan so much lol, I'd have him as a username in some places.

In terms of battle mechanics, it was Gen 4 for me:
Gen 1 created the formula
Gen 2 fixed the Special stat and introduced held items
Gen 3 added Abilities
Gen 4 added the P/S split

It added more depth and strategy to battles and also saved many Pokémon that were previously terrible because their typing didn't get along with their stats. I consider it the last gen that defined the gameplay backbone, after Gen 4 all they added were mostly just temporal gimmicks that in some cases broke the gameplay and did more harm than good.

In terms of Quality of Life: Gen 7 (USUM, I never played LGPE)
-Gen 6 type chart and Fairy type
-Poké Rides replacing HMs
-Optional Exp. All
-Poké Pelago EV training
-Able to add last caught Pokémon to your team without going to PC.

Would have been Gen 8 if it wasn't for Dynamax and forced Exp All.

It's peaked now.

For the sole fact I got someone else interested in the series. I never had anybody to share the fun with.

For me, Pokemon 'peaked' at Gen 4. This generation did so much good for the franchise. The physical/special split, making trading and battling locally easier, and giving evolutions to Pokemon that needed it. I loved the Sinnoh region, the diversity of biomes, the music that played in the games, and the lore that they added. The anime also peaked for me, as I loved Dawn, found Hunter J interesting, liked Ash's outfit, and it felt more epic than previous seasons. I also collected the trading cards, the plushies, and even miscellaneous Pokemon merchandise. Not to mention that I have a cousin who also loves Pokemon, and I spent a lot of time with him at the time.

As for the Mystery Dungeon games, they really peaked at Gen 4, specifically at Explorers of Sky.
Do you like Pokemon battles? If yes, then come play The Great Pokemon Battle 13!

I've never spent so much time in a Pokemon game before as in gen 8 so I'd be tempted to say gen 8.
As for merch I've been collecting bits for a while now, but it's definitely picked up too xD

Second gen for me, I had already loved RBY but when GSC dropped? BOTH games in one!? Omg be still my 9 year old heart.

Then another smaller spike for the old DPPt, I was able to get like 8 friends to do Monotype teams with me. It was so much fun having so many irl people around playing and sharing in the same game. My monotype was Dark, haha.

And lastly, Gen VI because of the Fairy types. I fell in love with Pokémon all over again, just like with GSC. Been riding the Pokémon train ever since! ٩̋(ˊ•͈ ꇴ •͈ˋ)و

gens 3-4. met my best friend when gen 3 was new and got my first game in Ruby, and Pokemon Colosseum was also a thing. i also loved Emerald's battle frontier, so there's that. can't forget about PMD: EoS as well!

gen 4 had Plat, BF, and i made some incredible childhood memories with irl friends, too c: also Pokemon Battle Revolution! really though, i can't pick between these two generations because they're both the peak of pokemon for me.

It had to be gen 1 and 2 for me. I watched the anime all the time as a kid, and even watched it up to Diamond and Pearl anime wise.

I've never had any less love for the franchise, so I'd say Pokemon definitely hasn't hits its "peak" for me yet. I still love it as much as I did when I found it in 2007.
