I got bored, so lets discuss the possibilities of Sony and Nintendo's future handheld systems. Even Microsoft if you want.

So, my crystal ball predicts that Nintendo and Sony will end up with very similar styles. Sony will call the successor to the PSP the PSPizzle, and Nintendo will call their's the NextDS.

They'll both have two screens, but not the same size. The top screen will be about the size of PSP's screen, and the bottom touch screen will be about the size of DS's screens. They'll both be using discs similar to the UMD, but games shall be partially saved to their 10 GB harddrive, almost eliminating loading times and greatly increasing battery life. Nintendo and Sony will limit the size of the harddrive for two reasons. One being so that people don't load games off the harddrive, because games will gennerally be in the 30GB range anyway. The other, so that people spend money on memory cards.

There will be many advantages over their current generation counterparts, such as an accessory that links wirelessly to a person's television to watch movies, as movie discs will contain both a small screen optomized version and a high definition version. While playing a movie, you have the option to turn the bottom screen off, or to have controls available there. Subtitles may be watched via touchscreen, and even the movie's boxart may be displayed.

Backlit brightness will be controllable via touchscreen, meaning no preset brightnesses. Along with this, buttons will have the ability to light up, along with any wired ports on the machine(for example, headphone and USB plugs will be lit), for easier connectivity at night.

A problem that both companies face is allowing the product to fold up when analogue sticks intrude on space. This is solved by allowing them to raise and lower themselves when the system starts.

Services like AIM and an Email client are optional to download when each new firmware version is released, and appear as a choice on the menu at startup. Other things the consoles will support are calender programs, a word proccessing app, and even graphic calculator functionability.

Umm, more unsupported crap as I think of it...

I'm hoping that the next GB/DS/thingy will have everything mentioned in the Decline 2 screens but bigger, compatibillity with other GB games, misc. backwards compatibility, etc.
I can almost guarentee that the system won't be backwards compatible with GB games, with the possible exception of having saved games to a harddrive.

I agree with Brit saying the next Nintendo handheld won't backwards compatible with GB or GBC games (I agree with Brit, dang, the world is ending XD). The GBM and DS don't play GB/C games so the next system will most likely do the same.

This is what I would like to see.

GameBoy Evolution (if it gets called that):
1 Large Screen
Nintendo ditches it's two screens (even if I love the idea of two screens) and goes with a screen larger then the PSP's.
Runs on GC Size Disks
Should also play GC games as well as it's own games.
Has a GC memory card slot
For the GC games.
IM System with Voice Chats
It might be PictoChat or might be AIM/MSN/YIM. But it should have an online chatting system (MSN/AIM/YIM would be better because you done got all your friends on your list etc). And it also has a mic on it (and a place for a head-set) so you'll be able to chat with friends over IM.
Touch-Screen
It might have to be two screens. But if you don't want IM chats to take 5 mins to reply then you need a touch-screen to type.

And other things I can't think of right now.

PSP2 (You know it's going to be called the PSP2. Sony does really good with naming their systems XD):
Windows
Yea that's right. Sony PSP2 has Windows on it. XD

And it has all the stuff the GBE has.
I'm not in the "mood" so
I don't feel like coming up with ideas.

Yeah you know since Sony is already in the business of computers, that they will find a way to incorporate windows into a game system. So like I said before a Game System mixed with Like a Next Gen Creative Zen Media Center or a Next Gen PDA

I like the guy who said the system will have "misc". Brilliant!

Lol "The system will have stuff."

Yeah, anyway...

PSP2
- If the current PSP is more or less a mini PS2, then I don't think we'll see the PSP2 until a few years into the PS3's lifespan.
- A bigger screen, but not a vast difference. We do want the portable to be portable.
- Depending on the success of UMD movies we'll see if that continues.
- I dunno. Just the same system again only more powerful. Plus you can fill it with whatever you want from the internet anyway.
- Oh! Hopefully a bigger analog stick

Game Boy Evolution
- Switch to discs, possibly GCN sized.
- As powerful as a GCN or higher, but it's Nintendo so probably not as high as the Revolution.
- Screen at least the size of the PSP's current screen.
- If possible, a hard drive.
- Plays all previous Game Boy games, but not from the carts. Downloadable from online service.
- Plays GCN games from same slot.
- Online play and voice recognition

NintendoTS (let's face it the top screen is almost useless on the DS. So, rather than Dual Screens, the system will be more accurately be called Touch Screen)
- More or less what I put for the GBE, maybe less powerful (and not the GB game stuff)
- Plays current DS games.
- The touch screen is bigger too.
- IM service
- Some kind of iPod ripoff with the touch screen acting like the scroll wheel.
- Internet
- Acts the way the PSP does now with the downloads and such, I think having a touch screen and stylus would make it more suited to such things.

Yes, not a very good post. I'm tired today.

Microsoft will make a portable called the Brick. It will run at speeds of over 700 gigabytes per second. It will have graphics equivalent to the PS3! It will convert as a phone! fax machine! telecommunications device! It will be wireless! It will have voice sensory technology, touch sensory technology, and the screen will be HD compatible!!!

and it will weigh over seven hundred pounds
