That's one heck of a strange search engine. Makes me wonder what else it can see.

It's some kind of search engine.

More info on it here:

http://www.itch.com/about.html

itch.com is an ambitious endeavor to make searching for news and information more efficient. While general search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo! boast about their ever increasing number of pages spidered and indexed, at itch our goal is to focus exclusively on the leading discussion forums, news portals, and knowledge sharing blogs on the Internet. Too often the major search engines return too much noise and not enough substance. Our belief is that by limiting our index to industry leading sites, we can provide better results for our users.

We have several tools that we use to achieve our higher standard of search results:

1) Forum Minder
We feel online discussion sites provide some of the best knowledge sources available online. Our spider and search technologies are designed to monitor and index the best forum sites on the internet covering a wide array of interests.

2) Headlines Database
At itch we have incorporated over 10,000 of the leading news and information sources into our headlines database to ensure our users will have access to current news and information on all subjects.

3) Blog Reader
Blogs (otherwise known as personal weblogs) represent a growing source of expert information on a wide range of topics. We have incorporated over 20,000 blogs into our search engine to provide users with access to this vast and growing area.

now im a little worried about posting at all, people arent suposed to se our posts if were there not memebers -_-" this is the kind of thing that makes me wants to leave, those weirdos!
... Calm down. Its just a simple cache. It spiders the pages, and records them to the database. its not just some creep in his moms basement copying + pasting.

Yeah, that would take forever. A machine could do it a LOT faster.

I have decided that some of the staffers here are corrupt, some of the members ain't much better (btw, I know whom is giving me all the bad rep points) and this isn't the place I need to be. I will only lurk around until those few times my assistance will be needed. Good day. You can find me at Resource Zone as well as my other fora if you need to talk to me immediately.

Are you sure about that? XD

Meh, I wonder how they get around the "Membership Needed" stuff, though. That could be a useful thing to tell fourm makers\admins so they can patch it.

To my knowlege, not all of the forums are protected. And even if tehy are, that could be an old cache. Check the dates.

that is correct.. anyone can VIEW PC (it's only locked down during spam attacks) including search spyders / bots.. it just parses whatever topic it's selected and will, as seen, show them.

technically you could do a similar thing on your own site..

Yes, sometimes web masters DO allow search engines to view with out membership. This includes some of the bigger newspapers as well. Sometimes, search engines send out a different browser header than we do. So, sites can recognize it as a spider and let it through.

Also, spiders regularly check for new content on a site. This demands more of a frequency on a spider's sholders. Google will spider PC more than a smaller fora, like mUnity for example. There is a lot more happening at PC.

Yes, spiders are cached machines. In fact, Google is one of the BIGGEST search engines around in terms of computer usage. They have over 10 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1024 terabytes) of storage. In fact, Google gives each of it's indexed web pages a DOCid and sends it to Document Servers. This is cached data (but this only happens after Google associates keywords with the data).

And I feel that some other will ask me the same question, no matter what, so I have a little extra credit work for you. Go to http://www.phpdig.net/ and install a search engine for your site. You can find the documentation and all that fun stuff here as well.
