Weither you use Windows, Mac OS, or any flavor of Linux or BSD, do you leave your system running constantly, only rebooting when needed?

I usually try to leave my laptop on, and usually keep my most used programs running minimized.

As for my desktop, I don't even remember the last time I rebooted it. XD

Both run Windows XP Home with SP2, btw.

All the time, cuz I got a laptop. I only turn it off when my programs are malfunctioning, the internet wont work, I have to leave on vacation or just when a while has gone by. Besides if I turn it off, I wont have my Clair/Mary shrines quick access just incase I need a refresh.

I leave my laptop on for about 10 hours each day but I turn it off in the night.

Nah. But my brother says it could stay on for about a week at least. If you count my PDA in the charger than that's almost always on.

Our Server is always turned on for obvious reasons. Only off when there's a problem.

I turn it off when no one's home... it gets rebooted a lot anyway, though, because it runs 3 operating systems :P

WinXP Pro, Win98SE and Ubuntu. It runs XP most of the time, but gets booted into 98 when my brother wants to run his old games, and Ubuntu whenever I feel like programming, since Unix > Windows for that.

*sigh* Ubuntu is a Linux distribution, hence it's Unix-based, same as something like FreeBSD or Solaris. It's much nicer to program in a Unix-based environment than in Windows.

I'd have to agree. I'll have to try and see if I can boot DemoLinux into reading my harddisks. Then I will be ph34red. XD

DemoLinux? Is that a CD-based distro? Just mount your hard disks from a shell then.

Yeah. I could do that. When I get unlazy enough. XD

It's a good alternative until my brother upgrades my computer.

X3 Just repartition your hard disk and install something. It's easier, and you can add your Windows drives to your fstab file so you don't have to manually mount them.

I usually shut it off when my parents are like "TURN OFF THAT COMPUTER AND GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!"

Then I turn it on again a few minutes later.

I always turn off the computer at the end of the day or when I'm going out for some time (such as when I go to the library, cycling, etc.). However, I leave it on when I'm at home (even if I'm not using it), or when going out for a very short while. As for rebooting, I do so only when the system becomes unstable (which does not happen often) or after updating Windows XP.
