I mean like The Casualties, The Misfits, AntiFlag, The Adolescents, Minor Threat, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols...stuff like that.
Not this new pop~punk stuff. I mean REAL punk rock. Good stuff.
Any takers?
What are your favorite bands?

All the bands above plus Dead Kennedy`s, AntiWorld, Oxymoron, and a few more I can`t think of right now.

People seriosly need to look back at the punk before. And I somewhat listen to some of the original punk. Well, however you define back then.

Punk, by deffinition, is something that is a counter-culture against something. And punk was born because there were these bands that made some music that was so different from the dominant disco style of the 70s. And they're called punk because, well, they're rebels against the disco society of the 70s. Nowadays, I don't really know how people look at punk. It's not political, really. If you reason out that punk is anti-political, well, to me, they're doing really lame anti-politics.

But yeah... I don't listen to that much punk back then but I'm really interested.

Punk bands I listen to:
The Clash, "Boy - War era" U2

The Clash is my favorite...*wonders why*
Have you even actually listened to "London Calling"? I can't imagine someone suddenly converting to The Clash through the power of suggestion because you either get hooked or don't with the punk music back then. Because the "punk" nowadays sounds NOTHING like the original punk.

...Well, this can cause a deal of controversy. o_O

Is there really a true definition of "Punk" anymore?

I beg to differ.

The Clash was probably one of the few bands which everyone calls Punk...I don't listen to them, but I have a very large amount of respect towards them and how much they accomplished. (This also goes to the Pistols and a few others, too.)
I listen to the Ramones though, they're amazing ^^

Anti-Flag! Thank God someone besides me knows them! I love A-F. They are one of my favorite bands...

That's what I'm expecting from other people. I would rather see someone like you rather than people who go: "I like The Clash because Billie likes it" and they haven't even heard a single chord of London Calling. Kind of insulting to me. "Respect" is probably the safer word from "Like"

And punk having no deffinition nowadays is kind of a negative thing. Punk will always have that one definition I have mentioned above: rebellion. Not selling yourself in order to get money. And if bands are making more of catchy guitar riffs and talking about skating, or just wanting to live, then, it's not punk. It's what you call alternative or pop.

I actually listened to the album before I really got into Green Day, my cousin had it, and he is the one that got me into them. London Calling is the only album I have listened to, and even that has been a while cause the CD was not mine. But I just did that link thing as a "joke". I guess it is hard to convey jokes with text alone. :P

I've listened to London Calling. Sad thing is (I'm such a disgrace to music for this, so feel free to shun me) 2 years ago, I thought Green Day made London Calling o_O I was a complete idiot...I know better now. But I have a huge respect for The Clash...

Yes, rebellion is the true definition but people don't exactly pick that up nowadays. People think Converse Shoes, Stud Belts, etc equal Punk, and the equation is wrong.

Camp Kill Yourself: Em...that's a hard choice. o_o They're actually releasing a new CD, did you know that?
I love Rank-N-File though...the song is awesome.

Punk, schmunk. "Real punk" or not, if it's good I'll listen to it, no matter what other people think. Nowadays I don't think anything really defines punk, whether you think of it as punk or not. I like the Ramones, but to me their sound is really pop-punk rather than punk.

"One reason why mathematics enjoys special esteem, above all other sciences, is that its laws are absolutely certain and indisputable, while those of other sciences are to some extent debatable and in constant danger of being overthrown by newly discovered facts."
Albert Einstein

"What science can there be more noble, more excellent, more useful for men, more admirably high and demonstrative than mathematics."
Benjamin Franklin

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of paintings or music, yet sublimely pure and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show."

Pennywise, Black Flag, and Rollins Band(loosely) are my favorite punk bands of all time.

If you really want to stretch the definition of punk, I'll even throw Johnny Cash down as being one of the greatest punkers to ever live. The guy was definately counter-culture, and always controversial.

And for a band that's been around for over twenty years, T.S.O.L. are probably the hardest working punks alive.
Its everyday that the anger seems to be killing me off. Its kinda nice to have a chance to talk, or rather have you listen to me. You always listen to me. No matter what state of mind I appear to be visiting, you were there for me. Even when I said that I was outta my mind, you were the one that told me give it some time and I would find, that I, could put the pieces back together again. You were the one that trusted in me 'till the end, I can't pretend that I never lost faith in you, I was only afraid. I knew what was going on, but didn't know what to say, I was so young, feeling like my heart was torn, coming to grips with the fact that you ain't coming home no more. - Jamie Madrox

MCR is hardcore, from what I've heard. Otherwise, I don't think they're punk.
Amen to that. I have been waiting for so long for someone to say that.. V_V
