I have just recently been checking out other Animes besides Yugioh and Pocket Monsters.

So far I have seen some of the following:
Love Hina (I love this one so much)
Gunslinger Girl (Only saw episode 1)
Ah! My Goddess (Only saw the first 2 episodes)

So my question is, if you were to recommend an Anime that you think others should check out, what would it be and why?
Please add me for max raids!

Full Metal Panic/Fum/Second Raid: Good solid action mech anime with bits of romance and comedy.
Chobits: Extremly funny with well placed drama.
Gungrave: Trigun but better. Action, good storyline, good animation, bit slow in the beginning.
His and Her Circumstances: EXCELLENT Romance, solid storyline, and the Mangas even better.

if you haven't watched these, watch them! lol

FLCL - If you haven't watched this anime yet, it's better that you do. The entire series is 6 episodes long and it's one of those special anime where the anime is actually better than the manga. And nice psychological/sci-fi/comedy/romance anime. It has one of the best anime soundtracks, too. A personal favorite of mine. =D

Fullmetal Alchemist - I recommend this if you're bored watching DBZ or whatever because I have to agree that this is one of those anime that will be remembered decades from now. Really nice character development and awesome plot. Though after Episode 25, it starts to slightly go downhill, but it's still awesome. Only 51 episodes long. Once you watch a single episode, you will just get sucked in and it will never let you go. If you dislike how the anime ends, read the manga. You'll be a lot satisfied with it. The manga is still going, by the way. I actually watchied this anime before it was even released here in the US... so... yeah... one of my personal favorites.

Azumanga Daioh - Cute and totally hillarious. Very...um...unique characters. You'll eventually fall in love with all the characters of the show even though there's no straight plot into it. Just watch it if you really need a laugh. The cabin episodes are the best. ;D

Cromartie High School - Like Azumanga, but a lot more random and instead of girls, it's guys. Watch it if you're a fan of Queen... or Robots that think they're human. Or gorillas. Very funny and very random. Each episode is less than 15 minutes long.

LastExile - Watch it if you want a serious anime or you love the blend of 2D animation and CGI. If you're a person who likes anime with a great plot, watch this one. Really suspenseful though it moves quite slow towards the middle. But nice and satisfying finish. Awesome intro. One of my personal favorites.

His and Her Cirumstances- My favorite anime of all time~ Just about the best highschool romance/drama I think. The girl reminds me of myself in a way...Just a lot of emotion and irony in this anime <3

Rurouni Kenshin- Every filler and every theme keeps me interested. It's sweet, yet violent. Actually, did you know more girls watch it than boys? o.o Samurai X kicks butt too~

Inuyasha- Well, it's like popcorn o.o You can just eat and eat and never get full...plus it's addictive and there are so many episodes x.x

I agree with Chibi-Chan. Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin are really good animes. You should watch them!
And Samurai X is the best anime ever!

There are places online that rent anime DVDs, that way you can see if you like a sreies before you buy it. Rnetanime.com and Animetakeout.com are the two that I know of and Netflix and Blockbuster also have a selection.

Recomendations: Tenchi Muyo, the OVAs more than the TV series. Mabaruho which I think is hysterical but might not be to everyones taste. Anything by Leiji Matsumoto including Captain Harlock/Herlock & Galaxy Express, which they need to put out on DVD. Akira is an excellent choice, one of the classics of animation.

Definetely, definetely take a look at Rurouni Kenshin and Full Metal Alchemist, they're two of the best animes I've ever seen.

Rurouni Kenshin has a good story and is a good mix of stuff like romance and action.

Full Metal Alchemist because it has a good story and the characters all have a history that bring twists to the story.

Bleach (which is still in Japan) is brilliant, if you can be bothered to download the fan-subbed episodes. It's very action-packed but very emotional.

Wolf's Rain is good too, though it's heart-wrenching and melodramatic in places. It also has really irritating filler eps towards the end xP

Bleach - is the pwns. It's storyline is unexpected, and filled with action, but more than action.

Naruto - It's serious yet funny... though with it's numerous episodes... and it's recent fillers... <<;

Rozen Maiden - only 12 episodes. =D But it still pwns. <3 It has cute characters and an emotional plot.

Gundam SEED/Destiny - Mechas. <3 And emotional plots as well. Though most ppl SEED is better, give Destiny a try too. xD;

Rurouni Kenshin: It's freakin awesome. Great story, characters, and fights. The OVAs are killer, too!

FLCL: Very hilarious. It's very weird, but that's what makes it so awesome anf funny. The OST is just perfect, also.

Dragon Ball Z: Sexay OST (Japanese). The story is awesome (at least until the Buu saga). Amazing fights.

Dragon Ball: Just about the same as Dragon Ball Z, except all of this series is good.

Naruto: Great story and characters. Awesome fights. Whenever they do something funny in this anime, it'll have you cracking up.

Trigun: Very funny, until it gets near the end. Awesome characters and OST. Sexay guns fights <3

Kodocha-The shorter title from Kodomo No Omocha. This anime is soo funny! It has a lot of comedy. But also it can be serious too. Like later in the series it will get serious but it is soo wonderful. It also have Romace too. It is about a child actress named Sana Kurtra. And she has her own show named Child's Toy and she plays a student in that show. And in her real life she goes to school like everyone else and have friends. But other times she will get busy with her work so she doesn't go to school that much. And she is friends with a delinquent named Akito Hayama. He used to cause trouble around her school and her. But she change him around. Because she found out about his past. He had trouble with his family. His sister hated him and his father doesn't talk to him(Because he thinks he killed his mom by giving birth to him)...but Sana fixed all that. By making a tv movie and making them watching it. ^^ It was good. And Akito didn't cause trouble anymore because Sana helped him. And they become great friends and they will become more...hehehe...later. XD It is so sweet. He also help with her problems too. =3 I remcomend this one. ^__^

Oh and Sana is always so happy and she sings and dances in this anime. XD Too funny!

Nadia: Because you can easily feel each character and if you loved valley of the wind this has a great series waiting for you. <3.

Mononoke-Hime: Total earth vs nature film. One of the greatest fantasy films ever.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: If you adore action, horror, drama and mecha this is also a great series. It teaches you so much about other human hearts/emotions. (and because the same person who created Nadia made this) A great treat for all~

one piece: >> I could go on and on about them. <3<3

Hack sign: You shouldn't miss out on this advanture.

Samurai Champloo: Watch and Love. =3

1. Steel Angel Kurumi: Very entertaining anime with well thought out characters who're given excellent development as the series progresses. Plus, the animation's outstanding and the battles will keep you at the edge of your seat.

2. Ranma 1/2: It's a very funny and amusing series. If you ask me, though, the manga's ten times better than the anime.

3. One Piece: The original version of this show is brilliant. It has an excellent storyline, great characters, outstanding humor and awesome fighting scenes. However, don't, and I repeat, don't watch the 4Kids dub. It's horrible.

More Anime:

Grave of Fireflies/hotaru no haka-Sad story, about a 2 kids living in a second world war time.

Ultra Maniac- Weird title, I know... It's magical series, but not like Magical Doremi...

Prince of tennis/tenisu no ohjisama-Revolves arpund tennis, has filler episodes, but still great.

Naruto-Great story, but recently,it's a fillers.

Garasu no Kamen/Glass mask- It's a old anime, now made into a newer version, it has old style shoujo drawing and truly is a classical piece.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Powerful plot, heartbreaking events, well developed characters, BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION (unlike so many other animes), and outstanding fight scenes. (unlike ::coughdbz:: which lasts FOREVER >> ) Interesting anime/manga, and it actually makes people question life. I've seen all 51 episodes (not all episodes were THAT interesting tho..) and I am forever fascinated by Fullmetal Alchemist. It has hidden morals in it, and one can learn -a lot- from it.

Not to mention that Fullmetal Alchemist is THE ONLY anime/manga I like. >>

i don't like sakura from naruto. she does nothing the first half of the series, then she comes back from training with tsunade and is ultra powerful. i mean, come on. she beat up an atatsuki person. sakura could not get that powerful in two years. and her obsession with sasuke at the beginning of the series was very irritating. as was inner sakura. and she tied with ino. there is no way they should have tied. the whole inner sakura kicking ino out was unrealistic. and she's the only person in the whole series that doesn't have something special. i could go on and say all the special things people have, but that would take up too much room. but enough of my ranting. the point is, sakura sucks. don't agree? tough.
