Ok so...I used to be such a hardcore gamer like all of you guys. Seriously, like I would find out exactly what games were coming out and buy em the day they did come out and play em for hours like any good hardcore gamer would.

But then I became a young adult...

AND BAM!

I've now become a casual gamer. It's not something I can really help either. I have my job and my college, and friends and sports and life. Videogames have now become a hobby instead of an obsession. I now buy games at whim and play them 3-4 hours a WEEK instead of a day. I don't like videogames any less, I just can't play them as much.

So being a casual gamer, I buy good cheap games. Just recently I bought Soul Calibur II, Eternal Darkness and Sky's of Arcadia Legends....and I've gotten about 4 hours into Eternal Darkness, heh.

So I'm looking for games...good, CHEAP games that I can play overtime and still enjoy. And if there are any other Casual Gamers like me here....show me your wut wuts.

Well my brother pretty much has the same problem. And he was telling me that a game like Max Payne 2 was a good game to play, while he wasnt working or anything. So it might also be pretty good, to you. It should be a Greatest Hits by now. But I dunno. I think the 1st one is, though. Another game would be Metal Gear Solid PS1. I beat it in like 3 hours, everytime I play it. But it'll probobly take like 5-6 hours for a first time player. So I guess that'll last you a week or so o.o Kingodm Hearts, you can beat in 24 hours, the least (from what I've seen). So that should last you a while. It's mucho fun. Super sweet graphics.

You started a thread about being a causal gamer...hey I guess you weren't joking. I too have become a "young adult" and working and freinds and life is hard but I do try and keep on top of video games...but the moment a have a girlfreind then my video games will most likely collect dust...its not so much bad thought, simply because I am not nearly as obsessed as I used to be.

Seriously though...some games you should pick up and play include:
1. Prince of Persia the warrior within. (Under 20 bucks)
2. Burnout 3. (Also around but not over 20 bucks)
3. Finally, and you have to pick this one up and actually play it...Star Ocean Til the End of Time...you have nothing to lose...Borow it from me or ELSE...or you can just buy it that works too.

I'm ready to get out of video games altogether because of the price...and with each next-gen system going to suck in its own special way, I think it's time for me to get out, or at least concentrate on buying N64/Dreamcast/PS1-era games and before. School takes far too much of a toll on me, and therefore I have no time and no money to feed a habit that is making less and less games that appeal to me. I might play one or two hours a week, and those aren't even new games, just old ones that haven't become stale to me yet. There's really nothing out there now, it's become the pastime of the rich and bored, and all that's left is to concentrate on mastering the classics.

Nothing really I can recommend, I'm that out of the loop.

I may not be turning into a young adult, but i play no video games on weekdays and play about 2 hours total on the weekends. if you're looking for long lasting games, get FE7, FE PoR, maybe megaman x colletion(when and if it comes out), metroid prime 2 echoes(no GBA ones, they last like 2 hours if you play them fast, or 3.5 hours if you don't know what you're doing), or any legend of zelda game, and if you're price picky, then the minish cap for GBA(still a fun good semi-long link game, i'm playing it over again:D) RPG's do nicely too, if you have PSX, brave fencer musashi is a nice long game, and's it's really fun and hard, at the pace you currently play, it might take a few months to beat.(not intending to say playing 3-4 hours a week is lame)

The image of a mainstream gamer that companies try to promote is something like a ghetto yuppie from what I've seen, the very rich and the very high. The alternate image of mainstream gamer that I've seen is the aristocratic, 1337ly-arrogant white boy who thinks he's a pimp/crime boss/etc...think about the writers for EGM, for instance. I want to kill them sometimes, but they're exactly who gaming companies pander to.

It's obvious companies no longer care about the average gamer, it's just a battle for exposure and trendiness.

I'm one of those gamers who still gets games from N64 w/ the acception of Pokemon games. Recently I just got Mariokart (and love it). It's a pretty good game if you dont have much time.
I only play like from a half to one full hour, mostly practicing with throwing the items, memorizing the courses and just experimenting, on weekends, I play alot more.
I dont have the DS version but I recommend Mariokart to you if you still have 64, like racing games and like at least one racer from the game. I like Toad, Yoshi and Peach.

Well if anyone can hook me up with any good games on PS2 or GC other from SSBM I would play my consoles more often. Other from that, I play MMORPGs and watch anime in my spare time. I don't have that much time to play that often anyway.
every try fire emblems? legend of zeldas? metroid primes? and for ps2 all the final fantasies?(i don't know much otherwise)
