love to, alright i will only give the beginning of eragon, eldest is a continuation so if i tell that there's really no point in reading either.
you are right about the farmer part, eragon is indeed a farmer. the story kicks off with eragon going to hunt in an "accursed" foresty mountain range called the Spine. then all of a sudden a blue stone just poofs out of nowhere and is resting against a tree. eragon takes the stone back to his house and shows his father, Garrow, and cousin, Roran. none of them know what it is, so they waited for a group of traders to come by. they brought the e..stone to one of the traders and they found out it was hollow, and also, indestructable. soon afterwards, the egg(not a stone) hatches and produces a small blue dragon, whom he names saphira(also the blue dragon on the cover of eragon). so then he, eragon, decided to raise her in secret. he learned that he could talk to her with his mind and after a while she gets bigger, and eragon was given a "gedwey ignasia"(i believe that's the spelling) which is a shiny patch on his palm, which shows that the person is a Rider. then eragon is forced to leave is town(for reasons i don't want to expose) and travels with a guy named brom, who is the town storyteller and knows a lot about him and saphira. as they travel, eragon learns magic and swordsmanship, and it goes from there, i don't want to say much more
EDIT: well i guess i can say some about eldest, it kicks off after a major battle at the end of eragon and...everything else is too important :D. in my opinion, eldest is much more exciting than eragon(cause it doesn't have to develop plot and such) but both are excellent books. the 3rd, and last, in the series is supposedly called "empire", and i'm guessing it should come out around the movie or some time in 2007
