Tonight the Colorado Avalanche played the Vancouver Canucks. The teams have what is the biggest rivalry in the NHL. In an earlier matchup this year one of the Avs, Steve Moore, gave a huge center ice check (a legal one) to the Canucks player Marcus Naslund. Naslund had a minor concussion and missed three games. But tonight, in the 3rd period, Canucks power forward Tood Bertuzzi struck back in the worst way. Moore wasn't paying attention (he was playing hockey and maybe awaiting a pass from a teammate), and Bertuzzi came up behind him, grabbed his jersey, and slammed him down head first into the ice. Moore then lay motionless as a pool of blood formed around his head.

He was then taken out on a stretcher. Moore didn't make one motion after he was hit. Now I, and many others are very worried about him. So I'm asking all of you to please pray for Steve Moore. He really needs your prayers. Thank you.

at first I though you wanted us to pray that the avanlanche win and I was about to lash out at you...don't waste God's time on the avalanche...don't waste anyone's time on the avalanche :P

But I realize the direty of this situation and it is a hefty one. Prayers would be good...

And I swear, if just one person comes into this thread and starts a flame war on God and prayer and what not---this thread will be closed...and warnings (maybe bans) will come up.

note: if prayer is not your thing, try substituting the word "wishes" for "prayers" then (for all our fellow non-christian friends out there).

I don't know anything about sports and has certainly never heard of this news... but I will pray for Steve Moore as well. Regardless of knowing him or not, no one would want another to be injured like this...

I saw that game. I am a canucks fan as I live in BC Canada but I cant beleive what Bertuzzi did. It was uncalled for. Even as a Canucks fan I hope Moore gets better. I just wish Moore wouldnt have messed with Naslund in the first place so none of this woukd have happened. I hope he recovers. BTW does anyone know if Bertuzzi will be suspended or how serious Moores injury is?

We should know at some point tomorrow. All I know is it is an indefinite period of time. IMO, he should be suspended from hockey in general. He should face assault charges too.

That's the problem with sports nowadays, they are so competitive and this mentality is spreading into non-contact sports. It's sad, but there is no real way to stop it.

Benjamin Franklin

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of paintings or music, yet sublimely pure and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show."

Ouch, I heard about that, I even saw it on SportsCentre. Looks like it really hurt (stating the obvious)=\ Hope the guy is alright and gets his revenge when he is all better. >=D

Wow, that must of hurt. There have been so many sports people getting hurt. The worst for me was the death of Dale Earnhardt on the last lap of the Daytona 500 in 2001, I believe. He was my favorite Nascar driver. Well, I'll be praying for Steve Moore and for whoever else needs praying for.

He's not okay, not okay at all to be truthful...

when that guy punched him in the back o the head, he also broke a vertibrae in his neck, which means that he could be crippled for like, so wish hard that he will be alright, because there is a high chance that he may not...=\

Maybe the NHL should suspend Bertuzzi until Moore is ready to return (or announces his retirement) and if Moore doesn't retire, Bertuzzi wouldn't be able to play against Colorado.
